Shield Technology Partners, an IT services platform, has appointed former Palantir executive Jim Siders as its new Chief Executive Officer. Siders, who spent over twelve years at Palantir—most recently as Chief Information Officer—joins to lead Shield's strategy of combining frontier AI, engineering, and operational expertise to help IT service businesses grow.
Former Palantir CIO Jim Siders appointed CEO of Shield Technology Partners.
Shield is an IT services platform backed by Thrive Holdings and ZBS Partners.
The platform partners with seven companies serving over 1,500 customers in construction, energy, and healthcare.
In partnership with Thrive and OpenAI, Shield has developed internal AI products Sentinel and Spectre.
These AI tools triage and automate repetitive IT tickets to improve engineer productivity.
Shield's model allows partner companies to retain their brand and culture while accessing tech and capital.
Jim Siders brings extensive experience from Palantir, where he oversaw global IT operations and infrastructure during a period of significant growth. Starting his career there as a helpdesk engineer, he later spearheaded the creation of a federated structure aligning technology workflows with business value. This background in scaling technology operations and leveraging data is seen as directly applicable to Shield's mission.
“AI is rewriting the economics of service delivery at the exact time IT service providers are rethinking how they operate," said Siders. “Shield is this incredible combination of long-term vision, technological expertise, and operational know-how that I think makes it perfect for this moment in time.”
A core component of Shield's strategy is the integration of AI into its partner companies' operations. Developed in partnership with Thrive Holdings and OpenAI, Shield has launched two internal products: Sentinel and Spectre. These tools are designed to "supercharge" IT engineers by using AI to triage and automatically resolve repetitive customer support tickets, freeing up human expertise for more complex and valuable tasks.
This focus on applied AI aims to improve service delivery economics and enhance the capabilities of Shield's national platform of partner companies.
Shield operates a partnership model designed for founder-led IT services businesses. The platform provides access to advanced technology, talent, and patient capital while allowing the individual partner companies to preserve their unique brand, culture, and local leadership. Shield currently partners with seven companies across the United States, which collectively serve over 1,500 customers in critical industries such as construction, energy, and healthcare.
The appointment of Siders signals Shield's intent to aggressively leverage AI and operational best practices to scale its platform and redefine value creation in the IT services sector.
