Industrial software company HighByte has announced a formal partnership with Databricks to help manufacturers and industrial enterprises bridge the gap between operational technology (OT) and enterprise artificial intelligence. Featuring a native integration with Databricks Zerobus, the partnership provides a direct, low-latency streaming pipeline designed to transform fragmented factory floor metrics into governed, AI-ready datasets.
HighByte announced a strategic partnership with Databricks to connect industrial data directly to the Databricks Data + AI Platform for machine learning and agentic AI use cases.
The integration features native Zerobus interoperability, enabling direct, low-latency streaming ingest into Delta tables without requiring intermediate event streaming services.
According to Databricks research, only 19% of organizations have deployed AI agents, with data governance and quality cited as primary hurdles—challenges this partnership directly resolves.
Global steel producer Gerdau successfully deployed the HighByte Intelligence Hub to streamline OT/IT integration and power digital twins.
PackIOT served as the preferred distribution partner supporting Gerdau's deployment in Brazil.
The native Zerobus connectivity is available via HighByte Intelligence Hub version 4.4.
Industrial companies have traditionally struggled to utilize dormant operational data locked inside brownfield systems, PLCs, and SCADA architectures. While advanced analytics and agentic AI initiatives require clean, contextualized streams, raw OT data is notoriously difficult to harmonize at scale.
The integration between HighByte Intelligence Hub and Databricks addresses this bottleneck. By modeling industrial data closer to the source and streaming it seamlessly into the cloud, the platform gives both human operators and autonomous agents a trusted foundation to model cost, quality, and productivity drivers.
"HighByte’s integration with Databricks, now extended through native Zerobus connectivity, helps manufacturers unlock dormant factory data by transforming fragmented signals into governed, AI-ready datasets that stream directly into the Databricks Data + AI Platform," said Shiv Trisal, Global Industrials GTM at Databricks. "This creates a consistent foundation to model cost, quality, and productivity drivers across the network, laying the groundwork for lights-out manufacturing."
"HighByte bridges the gap between Databricks' analytical and ML/AI capabilities and the real-time decisions that must happen on the factory floor," added Tony Paine, Chief Executive Officer at HighByte. "The closed loop between the edge and the cloud is what turns analytics investments into measurable outcomes for manufacturers."
The Databricks Zerobus connector within HighByte Intelligence Hub facilitates direct ingestion supporting schema evolution, automatically creating and altering Delta tables based on model definitions. This capability accommodates diverse industrial requirements spanning telemetry, transactional logs, historical archives, and file-based data structures.
Major steel manufacturer Gerdau leveraged this architecture to simplify how diverse OT and IT data sources connect. By utilizing the Intelligence Hub alongside Databricks, Gerdau eliminated custom script maintenance, accelerated digital twin development, and laid the groundwork for scalable industrial AI applications.
"HighByte has helped us simplify the integration of industrial data into Databricks and significantly reduce the time it takes for operational data to become available to our digital applications," noted Felipe Amorim, Global Tech Architecture Manager at Gerdau. "More importantly, this creates a trusted industrial data foundation that opens new opportunities to apply AI to our operations at scale."
