F5, the global leader in delivering and securing every app and API, has announced enhanced support for World Wide Technology’s (WWT) AI Readiness Model for Operational Resilience (ARMOR). This vendor-agnostic AI security framework, developed with NVIDIA and strengthened through real-world collaboration, helps organizations address the expanded attack surface of hybrid AI platforms while accelerating secure AI adoption.

  • F5 integrates its Application Delivery and Security Platform (ADSP) with WWT’s ARMOR framework to secure AI deployments across the full lifecycle.
  • ARMOR divides security into six core domains—Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC); Secure AI Operations; Model Protection; Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC); Infrastructure Security; and Data Protection—plus an overarching Cyber Resilience umbrella.
  • F5 AI Guardrails acts as a proxy to inspect AI traffic, prevent prompt injection, data leakage, and other AI-specific attacks, while providing observability and compliance features.
  • F5 solutions support post-quantum cryptography readiness, per-tenant connectivity, Kubernetes ingress/egress control, and secure data transport for AI workloads.
  • The partnership enables real-time fleet observability, predictive threat detection, automated adversarial testing via F5 AI Red Team, and alignment with OpenTelemetry for enhanced visibility.
  • ARMOR provides a modular, scalable approach to AI security that evolves with new technologies and partners, helping enterprises meet regulatory, compliance, and ethical standards.

Comprehensive Coverage Across the AI Lifecycle

ARMOR addresses the unprecedented growth in AI-driven cyberattacks by delivering layered, practical defenses from chip to cloud. It focuses on proactive threat detection, mitigation, and visibility while integrating seamlessly with F5’s ADSP portfolio.

“For organizations of any size, ARMOR provides a scalable framework that can be continuously refined as new partners and technologies join the ecosystem,” said Istvan Berko, Global Head of AI Cyber and Innovation at WWT. “By embedding security from chip-to-cloud and aligning with industry organizations and compliance mandates, ARMOR articulates an end-to-end AI security approach that provides comprehensive coverage over key IT domains.”

Key F5 contributions align with each ARMOR domain:

  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) — F5 AI Guardrails proxies AI traffic to enforce prompt and response inspection, prevent attacks, and deliver traceability through logging, watermarking, and audit support.
  • Secure AI Operations — F5 WAF reduces false positives with predictive insights, rapid triage, and automated iRules creation; OpenTelemetry compatibility enhances visibility across the ADSP.
  • Model Protection — F5 AI Red Team automates adversarial testing, while AI Guardrails dynamically defends against prompt injection, jailbreaks, and model misbehavior.
  • Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC) — F5 ADSP’s XOps overlay integrates scanning, automation, and AI assistants to treat secure configurations as code, supporting consistent security without slowing development.
  • Infrastructure Security — F5 Distributed Cloud Services provide per-tenant enforcement, BIG-IP Next for Kubernetes manages cluster traffic, and post-quantum cryptography readiness secures AI and HPC environments.
  • Data Protection — F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager standardizes secure transport between models and agents, with BIG-IP v21.0 adding pre-configured S3 profiles for optimized AI storage performance.
  • Cyber Resilience — F5 reinforces zero trust and defense-in-depth across all domains, ensuring every app and API receives tailored protection.

“AI’s ascension and integration into every element of modern business have transformed what application, API, and infrastructure security should look like,” said Kunal Anand, Chief Product Officer at F5. “Together with companies like WWT, F5 is focused on helping CISOs and security teams implement game-changing AI capabilities while simultaneously addressing corresponding shifts in overall threat, compliance, and data sovereignty landscapes.”
