EPAM Systems, Inc. and TGS have announced the successful deployment of TGS Imaging AnyWare® on Amazon Web Services (AWS), marking a significant step in modernizing seismic imaging and subsurface workflows for the energy sector. The deployment enables TGS to migrate imaging systems to AWS cloud infrastructure, improving scalability, performance, and cost efficiency for energy companies managing complex subsurface operations.
The collaboration combines EPAM’s cloud engineering expertise, AWS’s elastic infrastructure, and TGS’s energy data capabilities to support AI-enabled workflows and accelerate exploration and production decision-making.

Energy companies continue facing increasing pressure to process subsurface data more efficiently while reducing operational costs and improving exploration accuracy.
Traditional on-premises infrastructure often struggles with petabyte-scale seismic datasets, highly parallel imaging workloads, and fluctuating computational requirements, creating bottlenecks that delay production and exploration decisions.
The deployment of TGS Imaging AnyWare® on AWS introduces a cloud-native approach designed to improve scalability, computational agility, and operational flexibility for energy organizations.
"True digital transformation in energy requires partners who understand both the technical complexity and the operational realities of the sector," said Jason Harman, SVP, Head of Business ME & APAC, Energy at EPAM. "Our collaboration with TGS on AWS aims to deliver capabilities that weren't economically or technically feasible before — enabling energy companies to extract more value from subsurface data, faster and at scale."
The collaboration introduces several integrated capabilities designed to modernize seismic imaging and energy data management.
TGS Data Verse provides centralized and secure access to seismic and well data through an OSDU-compliant streaming architecture engineered by EPAM. The platform supports in-browser visualization and on-demand data delivery to accelerate exploration and production workflows.
TGS Imaging AnyWare®, modernized by EPAM on AWS, leverages AWS Graviton-based infrastructure and AWS Spot instances to improve performance on seismic imaging workflows while reducing compute costs.
EPAM’s Energy HPC Orchestrator (EHO), built on AWS cloud infrastructure, enables modular and composable subsurface workflows designed to support AI-driven operational processes across the energy sector.
The deployment reflects growing momentum toward cloud-native modernization strategies within the energy industry, where organizations increasingly seek scalable infrastructure capable of supporting AI-enabled workflows and advanced analytics.
"TGS has a bold vision for the future of seismic imaging, and AWS is providing the elastic compute, AI services and purpose-built infrastructure to help make it a reality," said Joseph Santamaria, General Manager, Energy & Utilities at AWS. "Together with EPAM, we're helping TGS move energy operators from data to discovery faster and more cost-effectively than ever before."
The companies stated that the collaboration establishes a new infrastructure foundation for AI-native energy workflows that traditional on-premises environments were not designed to support.
According to TGS, the migration represents more than a technical infrastructure upgrade. The platform is intended to create a unified operational environment that connects data, infrastructure, and expertise to improve efficiency and decision-making across exploration and production operations.
"The collaboration between TGS and both EPAM and AWS has delivered not just new technical capabilities, but a fundamentally better cost-performance model that adds agility and the latest computing innovations to our operations," said Wadii El Karkouri, Executive Vice President of Technology at TGS. "The result is computational gravity, drawing the right data, expertise and infrastructure into a unified environment that transforms complexity into competitive advantage for energy companies."
The deployment aligns with broader industry efforts to modernize energy infrastructure through AI, cloud computing, and scalable high-performance computing environments.
As energy companies continue prioritizing operational efficiency, real-time analytics, and AI-enabled workflows, cloud-native seismic imaging and subsurface data platforms are becoming increasingly important components of digital transformation strategies across the industry.
