Digimarc Corporation, the company building the trust layer for the modern world, has announced the appointment of Ron Thomas as Chief Revenue Officer, effective August 3, 2026. Thomas brings deep experience in scaling enterprise software revenue organizations and will lead Digimarc's global go-to-market strategy to drive predictable growth.
Ron Thomas appointed Chief Revenue Officer at Digimarc, effective August 3, 2026.
He will report to CEO Paul Carreiro and lead sales, customer success, revenue operations, partnerships, and go-to-market strategy.
Thomas joins from Smartcat, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer at the AI-native enterprise software company.
He previously helped scale data.ai from $100M to over $150M in ARR, achieving a Rule of 40 business and private equity exit.
His mandate includes strengthening Digimarc's commercial operating model and sharpening market prioritization.
Thomas also held senior roles at Oracle, Eloqua (pre-IPO through $800M acquisition), and Ariba (acquired by SAP).
Digimarc has reached a pivotal stage where commercial execution is as critical as technological innovation. The company has built differentiated technology, established strong customer relationships, and validated its solutions in the market. Thomas's appointment signals a strategic focus on scaling the commercial organization to translate these advantages into predictable, scalable growth. Reporting directly to President and CEO Paul Carreiro, Thomas will oversee all revenue-generating functions, including sales, customer success, revenue operations, solution advisory, and partnerships, with a mandate to build a disciplined, customer-centric revenue organization.
Thomas brings extensive experience building high-performing commercial teams and helping companies translate differentiated technology into measurable customer outcomes. He joins Digimarc from Smartcat, an AI-native enterprise software company, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer. Prior to Smartcat, Thomas held senior revenue and operating leadership positions at data.ai, Oracle, and Ariba. At data.ai, he served as Chief Revenue Officer and played a key role in growing the company from roughly $100 million to more than $150 million in annual recurring revenue, achieving Rule of 40 status and culminating in a successful private equity exit. Earlier, he was at Eloqua from pre-IPO through its $800 million acquisition by Oracle, and he began his career at Ariba, later acquired by SAP.
As Chief Revenue Officer, Thomas will focus on strengthening Digimarc's commercial operating model, sharpening market and customer prioritization, and establishing a more integrated approach across go-to-market functions. His appointment further strengthens the leadership team as Digimarc advances its strategy under Carreiro, who assumed the role of President and CEO in July 2026. Thomas holds a B.S. in Economics from Rutgers University.
"Digimarc has reached a point where commercial execution is every bit as important as innovation. We've built differentiated technology and established strong customer relationships and validated the value of our solutions in the market. Ron's mandate is to scale our world-class commercial organization which translates those advantages into predictable, scalable growth. His experience building disciplined revenue teams makes him the right leader for this next chapter," said Paul Carreiro, President and Chief Executive Officer of Digimarc.
"Digimarc has all the ingredients to become a market leader—a world class technology platform, outstanding customers, and a significant market opportunity," said Thomas. "I'm excited to join Paul and the leadership team and be part of this journey. My priority is to listen to our customers, partners and employees, sharpen our commercial focus, and build a disciplined, customer-centric revenue organization that delivers predictable growth and long-term value."
