DeepL has launched the general availability of its DeepL Voice API, enabling developers to integrate real-time voice transcription and translation directly into applications. • DeepL Voice API provides real-time audio streaming with transcription and translation to up to five target languages, fully available to all DeepL API Pro customers starting February 2, 2026.
  • Designed primarily for contact centers and BPO providers, the API transforms language support from a staffing challenge into an integrated, scalable solution that enhances agent efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Agents can hire for expertise rather than language coverage, expand talent pools cost-effectively, maintain service levels during off-hours, and achieve two-way understanding through live translated audio alongside on-screen transcripts.
  • Operational benefits include faster quality checks, fairer evaluations across global teams, reduced call times, fewer escalations, and minimized misunderstandings—turning contact centers from cost centers into revenue drivers via superior customer experience.
  • A six-week early access program for voice-to-voice capabilities begins mid-February 2026, allowing agents to hear translated audio in real time while speaking in their preferred language.
  • The launch builds on DeepL's trusted Language AI platform, used by over 200,000 businesses and millions of individuals across 228 markets, with a continued focus on security, quality, and innovation.

Contact centers and BPOs frequently struggle with language coverage, leading to longer handling times, repeated contacts, escalations, and higher operational costs. The DeepL Voice API addresses these pain points by embedding real-time transcription and translation into existing workflows. Supervisors gain better visibility and coaching opportunities through accurate transcripts, while agents can respond naturally and confidently without relying on workarounds or language-specific transfers.

"When interacting with a customer service representative, the end user is often trying to resolve an important issue, so facing communication barriers often leads to a negative experience," said Gonçalo Gaiolas, Chief Product Officer at DeepL. "By equipping contact center teams with tools that enable real-time communication in any language, we can turn what is often perceived as a cost center for a business, into a revenue generating one through customer excellence. This also makes the work of contact center agents smoother, reducing the need to pass tasks to others or seek workaround solutions."

Businesses can now expand geographic coverage, onboard new markets faster, and support diverse client programs without overhauling hiring or infrastructure. The API supports reliable performance during peak or off-hours when specialized agents may be unavailable, while maintaining compliance and quality standards through consistent, auditable transcripts.

The early access phase for voice-to-voice functionality will further enhance the experience by delivering translated audio output, enabling fluid, natural conversations across languages.

DeepL API Pro customers can begin integrating the Voice API immediately via the official documentation, with sales support available for onboarding and custom needs.
