As it enters a critical phase of scaling its autonomous AI robotics systems, Circus Group has announced a key executive appointment. Frank Holtey, who has been with the company for the past year and a half as Director of Global Affairs, has been named the new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). This strategic move is designed to strengthen the company's leadership as it ramps up high-volume production and expands its international footprint.
Circus Group appoints Frank Holtey as its new Chief Commercial Officer.
Holtey has over 30 years of international sales experience and has been with Circus for 1.5 years.
He will lead commercial strategy, focusing on growth, branding, and international expansion.
The appointment comes as the company scales production of its CA-1 AI robot for clients like REWE and Meta.
Circus is preparing for triple-digit deliveries of its autonomous systems next year.
The role includes oversight of Sales, Marketing, Partner Relations, and Customer Experience.
Holtey's promotion to CCO is a direct response to Circus's dynamic growth trajectory. The company is currently scaling deployments of its flagship CA-1 autonomous meal production robot with major customers like REWE and Meta, while also expanding its commercial activities in the European defense sector. With the company preparing for deliveries in the clear triple-digit range as early as next year, Holtey's deep understanding of the business and established relationships position him to lead this accelerated expansion effectively.
Having already played a key role in building Circus's international operations and developing major key accounts, Holtey brings both external expertise and valuable internal knowledge to the role. This combination is seen as a critical asset for navigating the company's current phase. Nikolas Bullwinkel, CEO and Founder of Circus, emphasized this, stating, “As an exceptionally experienced commercial leader who combines entrepreneurial thinking, sales excellence, and strategic brand expertise – and who deeply understands our business – Frank will play a central role in driving our expansion.”
In his new capacity, Holtey will assume overall responsibility for the entire commercial strategy of the Circus Group. This includes the departments of Sales & Strategy, Marketing, Partner Relations, and Customer Experience. This consolidation of commercial functions under a single leader is intended to create a more focused and cohesive go-to-market strategy. Frank Holtey added, “My clear goal is to work with the team to set strong, sustainable impulses and to further develop Circus into becoming an international market leader.”
The appointment of Frank Holtey as CCO signals Circus's transition from a technology innovator to a commercially scaled global enterprise. By placing a seasoned and internally trusted leader at the helm of its commercial operations, the company is strategically positioning itself to capture market leadership in the autonomous AI robotics space.
