The race for sovereign artificial intelligence capabilities is intensifying globally, and Cerebras Systems is positioning itself as a key enabler for national governments. The company has launched "Cerebras for Nations," a comprehensive global program designed to help countries build, accelerate, and scale their independent AI initiatives through a partnership-based approach.
Cerebras Systems launched "Cerebras for Nations," a global sovereign AI initiative.
The program helps governments build AI supercomputers using Cerebras' WSE-3 technology.
It includes co-developing state-of-the-art, domain-specific AI models with local teams.
Cerebras will invest in local education, workforce development, and AI policy initiatives.
The initiative is already active with partners in the US, UK, and UAE.
It aims to expand to allied nations in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
A core pillar of the initiative involves collaborating with governments and their private sector partners to co-design and deploy world-class AI supercomputers. These systems will be powered by Cerebras' third-generation Wafer-Scale Engine (WSE-3) chips and CS-3 systems, which are touted to deliver industry-leading generative AI inference and training speeds. The sovereign supercomputers can be deployed on-premises within a country or made accessible via a secure cloud, providing flexibility and ensuring data and infrastructure security for national projects.
Beyond infrastructure, Cerebras for Nations provides dedicated teams of AI research staff to work directly with local government and industry teams. This partnership focuses on rapidly developing and optimizing new, state-of-the-art models for specific national needs in science, industry, and society. The approach ensures that complete trained model ownership remains with the host institution. Cerebras has a proven track record in this area, having already helped build and deploy specialized models like Jais for Arabic, Nanda for Hindi, and Med42 for clinical healthcare.
Recognizing that infrastructure alone is insufficient, the third pillar of the program focuses on local investment. Cerebras for Nations aims to be a catalyst for digital and economic transformation by supporting academic outreach, collaboration, and workforce development projects in partner countries. This investment helps nations build a sustainable AI talent pool and robust policy frameworks to support their long-term sovereign AI goals.
"We are thrilled to announce the launch of Cerebras for Nations, expanding access to AI compute and adding partnerships to accelerate AI for science and society around the world," said Andy Hock, Chief Strategy Officer, Cerebras. "This initiative emerges from the extraordinary work we’ve done for years with the U.S. government, in the UK, and with our strategic partners G42 in the UAE."
The initiative has received positive reception from early government partners. "Today’s announcement puts the UK at the heart of Cerebras’ global plans, a clear vote of confidence in our ability to harness AI to create jobs, transform the economy, and modernise public services,” said Kanishka Narayan, AI Minister of the UK.
By providing a full-stack solution encompassing hardware, model development, and ecosystem building, Cerebras for Nations represents a significant strategic move to capture the growing sovereign AI market. The program is active now and plans to expand from its current bases in the US, UK, and UAE to additional allied nations across the globe.
Cerebras Systems builds the fastest AI infrastructure in the world. We are a team of pioneering computer architects, computer scientists, AI researchers, and engineers. We make AI blisteringly fast through innovation and invention because we believe that when AI is fast it will change the world. Our flagship technology, the Wafer Scale Engine (WSE) is the world’s largest and fastest AI processor. At 56 times larger than the largest GPU, the WSE uses a fraction of the power per unit compute while delivering inference and training more than 20 times faster than the competition. Leading corporations, research institutes and governments on five continents chose Cerebras to run their AI workloads. Cerebras solutions are available on premise and in the cloud.
