The collaboration between product and engineering teams is being redefined by artificial intelligence. Amplitude, the leading digital analytics platform, has announced a collaboration with GitHub to launch an agent-to-agent integration. This integration is designed to transform product development by bringing real-time business context directly into engineering workflows, enabling teams to build and ship the right products faster.

Quick Intel

  • Amplitude and GitHub have launched an agent-to-agent integration.

  • Amplitude acts as an agentic product manager, surfacing insights from user data.

  • The integration auto-generates data-backed product requirements from insights.

  • GitHub Copilot then uses these requirements to jumpstart development.

  • The connection is powered by the open Model Context Protocol (MCP).

  • A specialized Feature Experimentation Custom Agent is also available.

Bridging the Gap Between Insights and Code

The integration creates AI-powered workflows where Amplitude functions as an agentic product manager. It leverages powerful analytics to identify high-impact opportunities based on actual user behavior. These insights are then used to auto-generate detailed product requirements, which are seamlessly handed off to GitHub Copilot to help engineers open pull requests and accelerate development.

A Vision for Intelligent, Data-Driven Development

Spenser Skates, CEO and co-founder of Amplitude, emphasized the value of alignment, stating, “Product and engineering teams move fastest when they’re aligned around real-time data and a shared understanding of customer needs. By bringing Amplitude and GitHub agents together, companies can now build the right products and ship them faster.”

Mario Rodriguez, Chief Product Officer at GitHub, highlighted the role of context-aware agents, saying, “AI is reshaping how software is built, and the future lies in agents that can understand context and take action. By bringing business context directly into the developer workflow, we’re making it possible for developers and organizations to build at the speed of their ideas.”

Powered by Open Standards and Specialized Agents

The integration is powered by the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for embedding context into AI systems. This allows Amplitude to deliver product and customer data directly into GitHub Copilot-powered workflows without manual handoffs.

Additionally, Amplitude has created a Feature Experimentation Custom Agent in collaboration with GitHub. This specialized agent offers Amplitude-specific prompts and tools, allowing users to directly query for product insights, manage feature flags, and automatically run experiments on new features.

This collaboration represents a significant step towards a fully integrated, data-driven software development lifecycle. By connecting product analytics directly to the tools where code is written, it reduces manual tasks, minimizes context switching, and ensures that engineering effort is consistently focused on the features that will deliver the most value to users.
