AiGent, Inc. has named Bill Larkins as its Chief Technology Officer to spearhead the development of its AI-driven distributed power plant (DPP) platform. Larkins, a seasoned leader with over three decades of experience in software, electrical engineering, and data science, previously developed a groundbreaking hardware and software platform at EnerNOC, Inc., automating dispatch for commercial and industrial distributed generation. “As Mark Twain famously said, ‘There are basically two types of people: those who accomplish things and people who claim to have accomplished things. The first is less crowded,’” said Stephanie Hendricks, CEO of AiGent. “Bill is atop the less crowded category, having accomplished a lot of amazing things.”
With increasing electricity demand and shrinking supply margins, AiGent’s platform leverages machine learning and AI to optimize distributed energy resources. “I’m excited to construct a brand new platform bringing to bear a modern, full-stack approach from deeply embedded systems to principles of cloud-based AI theory to help solve one of our nation’s most pressing problems,” said Larkins. The platform aims to deliver affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity, supporting grid stability for utilities and commercial users.
Larkins’ experience includes building EnerNOC’s patented DPP platform, which was the first to automate grid services, and developing intelligent shock absorption technology at Active Shock for military and industrial applications. His return to EnerNOC to scale its software development team further demonstrates his ability to drive innovation. At AiGent, Larkins will lead the creation of a full-stack platform, integrating embedded systems and cloud-based AI to enhance DPP scalability and efficiency.
As a board director, Larkins will also provide strategic guidance to align AiGent’s technology with market needs. The company’s focus on virtual power plants (VPPs) and distributed energy resources positions it to address growing energy demands, particularly in data centers and industrial settings. This appointment follows AiGent’s recent naming of Stephanie Hendricks as CEO, signaling a robust leadership team to drive its mission.
AiGent’s appointment of Bill Larkins as CTO marks a pivotal step in advancing AI-driven distributed power plants. By combining Larkins’ innovative expertise with AiGent’s vision, the company is set to transform grid reliability and sustainability, delivering scalable energy solutions for a rapidly evolving market.
AiGent brings AI to the aggregation, orchestration, and monetization of distributed generation resources in wholesale and retail power markets and delivers significant reliability, economic, and sustainability benefits to commercial and industrial energy users, utilities, and grid operators.
