Industrial buyers have long been considered last holdouts of digital change, slow to move online and unlikely to shop through AI. New data from BlueTuskr, a digital marketing agency for industrial businesses, suggests assumption is already outdated. Across dozens of industrial brands BlueTuskr manages, AI-referred traffic now appears in 85% of them, and 76% have generated revenue directly from it. Traffic has more than tripled year over year from base that was nearly invisible in 2025. Announcement was made from Philadelphia on September 9, 2026.
Across dozens of industrial brands BlueTuskr manages, AI-referred traffic now appears in 85% of them, and 76% have generated revenue directly from it. In accounts analyzed, traffic has more than tripled year over year, from base that was nearly invisible in 2025. For one high-seven-figure industrial brand, AI has climbed into top 10 traffic sources, up from hundreds of sessions per month a year ago to roughly tens of thousands today.
Shift became newly measurable this year, after Google Analytics began classifying AI-assistant traffic as its own category in May 2026. Since then, BlueTuskr has observed pattern across full industrial portfolio, and notes true figures likely higher, since many AI-driven visits arrive without traceable referrer and go uncounted.
"For years, assumption has been that industrial buyers are last people who would ever find supplier through AI assistant," said Andrew Maffettone, Founder and CEO of BlueTuskr. "Data in our own clients accounts tells different story. AI-referred traffic has gone from nearly nothing to measurable, revenue-generating channel across almost every industrial brand we work with. It is still early and that is why it matters. Companies that make themselves easy to find through these AI channels will own them before competitors realize it exists."
Finding reflects broader change in how technical and industrial buyers research suppliers, evaluating options across more digital touchpoints and, increasingly, starting with AI assistant rather than traditional search. Yet most industrial brands have done very little to ensure they appear, and appear accurately, in those AI-generated answers.
Maffettone will explore shift in session titled Found First, Chosen Fast: Winning Sale as Buying Goes Digital at STAFDA 50th Annual Convention, held November 15 to 17 in Anaheim, California. Session will walk distributors through how buying journey is moving online, and how to stay supplier buyers find first, choose over cheaper option, and reorder from without friction.
