  • Capgemini ensures scalable deployment with AI and data expertise.

  • Aims to enhance compliance and public trust in water management.

  • Globally exportable model for digital catchment monitoring.

Advancing River Health with CMaaS

At the core of this collaboration is Catchment Monitoring as a Service (CMaaS), Additive Catchments’ flagship platform. CMaaS delivers real-time diagnostics for rivers, offering AI-powered early warnings and interactive dashboards. Supported by partners like Capgemini, Siemens, The Rivers Trust, and AtkinsRéalis, it integrates Google Cloud technologies such as BigQuery, Vertex AI, Earth Engine, and Looker to provide actionable insights across river basins. As Rob Passmore, CEO of Additive Catchments, stated, “This alliance combines the agility and environmental expertise of Additive Catchments with the scale and technical excellence of Google Cloud.”

Capgemini’s Role in Scalable Deployment

Capgemini, a key implementation partner, leverages its expertise in environmental data engineering and AI-led transformation to ensure CMaaS is deployed reliably across diverse catchments. This partnership builds on Capgemini’s long-standing collaboration with Google Cloud, enabling scalable and secure data services. Quinton Davies, CTO at Additive Catchments, noted, “By combining the scale of Google Cloud, the delivery power of Capgemini, and the intelligence of Additive Catchments, we’re establishing a world-class foundation for scalable water resilience.”

Addressing Environmental and Regulatory Needs

With only 14% of England’s rivers meeting good ecological standards, the collaboration addresses urgent needs outlined in the 2021 Environment Act, which mandates continuous water quality monitoring. CMaaS supports this by providing credible data to enhance regulatory compliance and foster public trust. Maureen Costello, Vice President at Google Cloud, emphasized, “We’re proud to collaborate with Additive Catchments to address one of the world’s most urgent environmental challenges.”

This partnership sets a new standard for environmental monitoring, offering a scalable, AI-driven solution that not only improves UK river health but also serves as a global model for sustainable water management.
