The deployment and management of AI applications at the edge is a complex challenge, often hampered by unreliable connectivity and a lack of cloud-native tooling. ZEDEDA has addressed this with the launch of Edge Kubernetes App Flows, announcing the industry's first full-stack edge Kubernetes solution designed specifically to automate and simplify the deployment of AI-driven intelligence in distributed environments.
ZEDEDA launches Edge Kubernetes App Flows, a full-stack Kubernetes-as-a-Service for the edge.
The solution automates the entire edge application lifecycle, from packaging to observability.
It is built for AI applications, supporting bare-metal and GPU compute at the edge.
Key features include GitOps-based delivery and adaptive observability for intermittent connectivity.
The platform extends a zero-trust security architecture and offline resilience to edge Kubernetes.
It addresses the scaling challenge of managing thousands of clusters in resource-constrained environments.
This new solution is a direct response to the growing need for containerized software at the physical edge, a market Gartner predicts will grow from 10% in 2023 to 80% by 2028. Current Kubernetes tools are designed for data centers and fail in edge environments with intermittent connectivity. ZEDEDA Edge Kubernetes App Flows combines GitOps-based delivery with its proven edge orchestration platform, allowing organizations to focus on their applications rather than the underlying infrastructure. This enables consistent app management across thousands of distributed locations, minimizing expensive manual intervention at each site.
A core strength of the solution is its foundation on ZEDEDA's established edge platform, which brings critical enterprise-grade capabilities to Kubernetes. This includes a zero-trust security architecture that continuously validates devices and applications, and robust offline resilience that keeps applications running even in disconnected environments. The platform is optimized for the scale and hardware requirements of edge AI, supporting the bare-metal and GPU compute needed for use cases like automated quality inspection in manufacturing or predictive maintenance.
“Our customers are showing us what’s possible when AI and distributed cloud-native applications meet the realities of the edge,” said Said Ouissal, ZEDEDA’s CEO and founder. ”Our new full-stack Kubernetes solution is a natural extension of ZEDEDA’s award-winning edge platform, delivering the agility and control developers require, helping teams orchestrate experiences and infrastructure seamlessly across every location.”
“We’ve seen with our customers that bringing edge AI and distributed applications to life means solving one of the toughest problems in modern infrastructure, extending the power of Kubernetes to places where connectivity, resources, and scale bear little resemblance to the cloud,” said Padraig Stapleton, SVP and Chief Product Officer at ZEDEDA.
By unifying the management of applications, Kubernetes clusters, and devices, ZEDEDA enables enterprises to deploy intelligent workloads at the edge without adding operational complexity, thereby reducing the need for expensive data backhaul to the cloud.
ZEDEDA makes edge computing effortless, open and intrinsically secure—extending the cloud experience to the edge. ZEDEDA reduces the cost of managing and orchestrating distributed edge infrastructure and applications while increasing visibility, security and control. ZEDEDA delivers instant time-to-value, manages tens of thousands of nodes, and is backed by world-class investors with teams in the United States, Germany, India and the Middle East.
