Strike48 has open-sourced KubeStudio, a Rust-native Kubernetes cluster management dashboard designed to deliver both the speed of a terminal client and the rich context of a visual interface. Built with the Dioxus framework, KubeStudio launches in under 500 milliseconds and provides a lightweight yet comprehensive tool for dev and ops teams managing Kubernetes environments.
Kubernetes management has traditionally forced teams to compromise between speed and visibility. Visual tools like Lens offer context but are slow and resource-heavy, while terminal clients like K9s are fast but lack graphical feedback. KubeStudio eliminates this tradeoff by providing both in a single modern tool.
Written entirely in Rust, KubeStudio delivers near-instant launch times and remains lightweight on system resources. It supports live updates through the Kubernetes watch API, auto-discovers custom resource definitions, and includes built-in capabilities such as pod log streaming, multi-container shell access, port forwarding, deployment scaling, and job triggering. A command palette and extensive keyboard shortcuts ensure terminal-native users maintain their preferred workflow speed.
KubeStudio is designed for team collaboration. It can run as a native desktop application for individual use or as a standalone web server with configurable permissions, allowing entire teams to manage clusters from a single shared instance without distributing sensitive kubeconfig files.
The dashboard also ships with a Matrix connector variant, enabling seamless integration into AI-powered operations environments. When connected to the Strike48 platform, autonomous agents can inspect cluster state, execute commands, and act on findings through tool-calling, providing a clear path from manual operations to fully agentic Kubernetes management.
“IT teams shouldn’t have to choose between fast and visual,” said Tim Leehealey, VP of Corporate Strategy and Operations at Strike48. "KubeStudio provides speed and visibility in a single tool, and gives teams a path from manual cluster management into fully agentic operations."
