Fueling the AI-First Economy

Lumen’s strategic network enhancements address the growing need for high-performance infrastructure to support AI and data-intensive workloads. “This investment isn’t just about faster data center connectivity—it’s about creating the digital foundation for an AI-first economy,” said Ashley-Haynes Gaspar, Lumen’s Chief Revenue Officer. The expansion enables enterprises to provision bandwidth in minutes, scale up to 400Gbps, and pay only for what they use, ensuring flexibility and cost efficiency.

High-Speed Connectivity Across Key Markets

The 400Gbps connectivity is available in 16 major U.S. metro markets: Northern Virginia, Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, Phoenix, Portland, San Jose, Seattle, and San Antonio (Q4 2025). Lumen’s solutions, including Ethernet On-Demand, Internet On-Demand, E-Line, E-LAN, and E-Access, are designed to meet the demands of AI, cloud, and enterprise applications, offering secure and predictable data transport.

Strategic Investment in AI Infrastructure

Lumen’s network, one of the most interconnected in the U.S., delivers <5ms latency at the edge, meeting 97% of enterprise demand. It connects to all major cloud providers, over 2,200 third-party data centers, and 163,000 on-net customer locations. “Lumen’s network investment in bringing high-speed connectivity to key data centers is a strategic move to meet the growing demand for more capacity and reach across data centers,” said Ghassan Abdo, IDC’s vice president of research. The company plans to expand its intercity fiber network to 47 million miles by 2028.
