Lightning AI, the company behind PyTorch Lightning and a leading platform for building and running AI applications, has completed its merger with Voltage Park, a large-scale GPU infrastructure provider. The combined entity, operating under the Lightning AI name, creates the first purpose-built AI cloud that integrates AI-native software with on-demand, high-performance GPU compute in a unified platform.

  • Lightning AI and Voltage Park merge to deliver an end-to-end AI cloud combining software and owned GPU infrastructure.
  • The combined company has grown from $18M to over $500M in ARR since 2024, serving more than 400,000 developers and enterprises.
  • Lightning provides virtually unlimited GPU burst capacity across a fleet of 35,000+ owned H100, B200, and GB300 GPUs.
  • The platform unifies training, large-scale inference, model serving, team management, observability, and deployment in one place.
  • Eliminates fragmentation of single-purpose tools, reducing operational overhead and enabling focus on innovation rather than infrastructure management.
  • Supports multi-cloud flexibility while offering neocloud GPU pricing with hyperscaler-grade software capabilities.

Solving the Fragmentation in AI Infrastructure

Traditional clouds like AWS were designed for CPU-based workloads (websites, services), not GPU-heavy AI tasks such as multi-node training, large-scale inference, and data preparation. This mismatch has led to reliance on dozens of specialized tools, creating procurement complexity, integration challenges, and high costs.

Lightning AI addresses this by building a cloud specifically for the generative AI era. Teams access GPUs, train models, deploy them into production, run inference at scale, and manage everything through a single interface—without stitching together disparate vendors or tools.

“Imagine instead of using an iPhone, having to carry a separate calculator, flashlight, radio, and more - that’s where AI tooling is today,” said William Falcon, founder and CEO of Lightning AI.

Key Benefits of the Merged Platform

  • Software-First + Infrastructure-Native — Combines developer-friendly AI tools (experiment tracking, model serving, observability) with owned GPU capacity for cost efficiency and performance.
  • Unlimited Burst Capacity — 35,000+ high-end GPUs available on-demand, enabling seamless scaling without procurement delays.
  • Production-Ready Inference Bundled — High-scale inference capabilities previously costing hundreds of millions are included at no extra charge.
  • Multi-Cloud Continuity — Existing Lightning users retain full multi-cloud support (AWS and others) with optional burst into Lightning’s infrastructure.
  • Enterprise and Developer Scale — Trusted by over 400,000 users, from individual developers to Fortune 100 companies, for experimentation through production.

“The next phase of AI will be won by teams that control the entire stack,” said Timo Mertens, CTO of Cantina Labs. “Model performance, cost efficiency, and iteration speed increasingly depend on tight integration between the platform, deep optimization expertise, and owned compute. What’s compelling about this combination is that it brings those layers together into a single, cohesive system.”

“This puts us in a category that didn’t previously exist,” said Saurabh Giri, former CPTO of Voltage Park and now CPTO of Lightning AI. “Most neoclouds sell raw GPU capacity without a deep software stack. Most AI platforms depend on third-party clouds underneath. We’re software-first and infrastructure-native, and designed end-to-end for AI workloads.”

About Lightning AI

Lightning AI is the company behind PyTorch Lightning, the deep learning framework trusted by more than 5 million developers and enterprises worldwide. Lightning AI provides an end-to-end platform for building, training, and deploying AI systems, combining developer-first software with enterprise-grade infrastructure. Following its merger with Voltage Park, Lightning AI delivers flexible, cost-efficient access to large-scale compute alongside tools for experimentation, training, and production—enabling teams to move faster from idea to impact with security, observability, and control built in.
