  • ISG's 2026 Provider Lens AWS Ecosystem partners report for Asia Pacific finds enterprises reshaping AWS environments to support AI while meeting local regulatory requirements.

  • Effective AWS strategies in Asia Pacific require specific country-level capabilities with a shared operating backbone.

  • Modernization programs go beyond lift-and-shift to include application, database and infrastructure changes, including SAP environments, VMware estates and mainframes.

  • Companies are deploying GenAI within AWS environments for knowledge assistants, customer service automation, software engineering and industry-specific applications.

  • Amazon Bedrock, now available in more locations in the region, helps organizations address data residency, latency and control requirements.

  • CIOs and CFOs are increasingly scrutinizing AWS unit economics, idle resources, licensing and workload placement, raising the priority of FinOps and cloud optimization.

Modernization and GenAI Adoption

Modernization remains a primary goal of AWS strategies, but the programs of many companies in the region go beyond lift-and-shift approaches to include application, database and infrastructure changes. Enterprises are updating SAP environments, VMware estates and mainframes and expanding cloud-native engineering on AWS to support changing business requirements. This integrated approach helps reduce technical debt and provide stronger foundations for data-intensive processes.

Companies in Asia Pacific are deploying GenAI within AWS environments for use cases including knowledge assistants, customer service automation, software engineering and industry-specific applications. Amazon Bedrock, now available in more locations in the region, helps organizations address data residency, latency and control requirements for these applications. To operate AI reliably, enterprises are strengthening data engineering, retrieval architectures, security testing and responsible AI controls.

Leadership Perspective

"Effective AWS strategies in Asia Pacific require specific country-level capabilities with a shared operating backbone," said Michael Gale, partner and regional leader, ISG Asia Pacific. "Companies can differentiate themselves by using common assets while meeting local data, talent and regulatory requirements."

"As AWS becomes embedded in core operations, enterprises in Asia Pacific are evaluating whether their operating models can absorb AI growth and regulatory change," said Srinivasan P N, ISG senior lead analyst and lead author of the report. "Providers that turn common tools into repeatable and industry-specific capabilities can help clients continuously improve cloud environments."

Cost and Operations Scrutiny

CIOs and CFOs are increasingly scrutinizing AWS unit economics, idle resources, licensing and workload placement as cloud consumption grows across Asia Pacific. This scrutiny is turning FinOps, cloud optimization, automation and managed AWS operations into higher priorities. Enterprises are expanding observability and site reliability engineering practices to improve performance, availability and resilience for business-critical AWS workloads, ISG says.

The report also explores other trends in the region's AWS ecosystem, including the growing importance of cross-region resilience and accelerated deployment of real-time data pipelines.
