CoreWeave, The Essential Cloud for AI™, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Marimo Inc., the creator of an open-source, AI-native notebook for Python. This strategic move aims to unify the generative AI developer workflow by combining CoreWeave's specialized cloud infrastructure with Marimo's reactive programming environment. The acquisition is designed to accelerate how developers build, scale, and deploy AI applications from initial experimentation to large-scale production.
AI cloud provider CoreWeave is acquiring Marimo, the creator of an open-source marimo notebook.
The acquisition integrates an AI-native, reactive Python environment into the CoreWeave Cloud.
It aims to create a unified developer experience spanning the entire AI lifecycle.
Marimo’s technology will be augmented alongside CoreWeave’s existing Weights & Biases platform.
The marimo open-source project will remain freely available and permissively-licensed.
This follows CoreWeave's recent acquisitions of OpenPipe, Weights & Biases, and Monolith AI.
The integration of Marimo's technology is a key step in CoreWeave's strategy to build a vertically integrated platform for AI development. By bringing Marimo into its ecosystem, CoreWeave can offer a more seamless experience that bridges the gap between interactive prototyping and robust production deployment.
