Backblaze to Present Strategic Data Layer Framework

Backblaze, Inc. announced that its Head of Go-To-Market, Patrick Thomas, will lead a theater session at the Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations, & Cloud Strategies Conference 2025 in Las Vegas. The presentation is designed to give infrastructure and operations leaders a clear blueprint for addressing data sprawl and building an independent data layer capable of supporting AI workloads, multi-cloud environments, and long-term operational agility.

Addressing Data Sprawl and Infrastructure Fragmentation

The session will outline how decades of accumulated data sprawl, fragmented infrastructure, vendor lock-in, and unpredictable egress fees have slowed organizational progress toward AI-driven workloads. These challenges hinder critical initiatives such as retrieval augmented generation (RAG), inference, analytics, and multi-cloud compute.
Thomas will detail how adopting an independent, S3-compatible data layer allows enterprises to consolidate storage, eliminate cost barriers, and enable true data mobility.

Real-World Customer Impact

Thomas will highlight examples of organizations—such as Big Cartel, Decart, urlscan.io, and a Fortune 100 media company—that have modernized their architectures using Backblaze’s independent cloud storage. Several of these organizations achieved reductions of up to 80% in storage costs, while gaining performance improvements and unlocking new AI and data-intensive workflows.
“Infrastructure and operations teams are under pressure to deliver both innovation and reliability,” said Thomas. “Backblaze exists to make those teams unstoppable—solving their toughest storage challenges with the performance, transparency, and trust they need to move faster. Gartner IOCS is where those conversations happen, and we’re excited to be part of it.”

Session Information and Engagement Opportunities

The session, titled Backblaze: The Business Case for an Independent Data Layer—Future-Proof for AI, will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 9:50–10:10 AM PST during the Gartner IOCS Theater Session.

Attendees can engage with Backblaze experts at Booth 244 in the Cloud Solution Village, where the team will provide personalized playbooks and discuss strategies for building an independent, AI-ready data layer.

Gartner analysts will share additional insights on IT operations, cloud strategies, and infrastructure trends at the Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud Strategies Conference 2025, held December 9–11 in Las Vegas. Follow event updates on X using #GartnerIO.
