Treasure Data has introduced its MCP Server, an open-source connector that enables AI assistants like Claude, GitHub Copilot Chat, and Windsurf to interact directly with its Customer Data Platform (CDP). This innovation allows teams to query and analyze customer data using natural language, streamlining workflows and making data insights more accessible across enterprises.

Quick Intel

  • Treasure Data launches MCP Server for AI-driven data interaction.
  • Open-source connector supports Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Windsurf.
  • Enables natural language queries for customer data analysis.
  • Read-only by default, with optional write access for advanced users.
  • Simplifies workflows for marketing, data, and product teams.
  • Available in public preview on npm and GitHub for contributions.

Conversational Data Access with MCP Server

Treasure Data’s MCP Server, powered by the open Model Context Protocol (MCP), transforms how teams interact with customer data. By integrating AI assistants with the Treasure Data CDP, it allows users to explore datasets, query segments, and analyze tables using plain language, eliminating the need for complex SQL or manual workflows. This conversational approach democratizes data access, making insights readily available to non-technical teams.

“This is the beginning of natural language analytics at scale,” said Rafa Flores, Chief Product Officer of Treasure Data.

Seamless AI Integration for Simplified Queries

The MCP Server acts as a secure bridge between LLM-enabled tools and the Treasure Data platform. Users can issue natural language commands, such as “@treasuredata Find the top 5 most viewed products in the past 7 days and show the revenue by region,” and the AI assistant generates and executes the appropriate SQL query within the CDP. This eliminates tab-switching and manual query-building, delivering results directly in the chat interface. Advanced tasks, like analyzing IP access patterns or switching databases, are also simplified, requiring no SQL expertise.

Broad Applications Across Teams

The MCP Server supports diverse use cases, empowering various teams:

  • Marketing Analysts: Assess campaign performance by region quickly.
  • Data Engineers: Validate tables or perform point-in-time QA checks.
  • Product Managers: Explore user journey data and conversion funnels independently.
  • AI Developers: Chain multi-step queries for model training and hypothesis testing.

By default, the server is read-only for safe exploration, with optional write access for advanced workflows like data inserts and updates. This flexibility ensures secure and governed data interactions.

Breaking Down Data Barriers

The MCP Server addresses a critical enterprise challenge: connecting AI models to high-quality, governed data. By enabling secure, direct access to the CDP, it ensures AI assistants deliver actionable insights without data silos or technical bottlenecks. Available in public preview on npm and open for contributions on GitHub, the MCP Server invites community feedback to further enhance its capabilities.

Treasure Data’s MCP Server marks a significant step toward scalable, AI-driven data analytics. By enabling conversational data exploration, it empowers marketing, data, and product teams to unlock customer insights effortlessly, driving efficiency and innovation in enterprise workflows.
