Workday, Inc. has announced a collaboration with Microsoft to enable organizations to securely manage people and AI agents across platforms. This integration allows customers building AI agents on Microsoft Azure AI Foundry and Copilot Studio to register and manage them within the Workday Agent System of Record (ASOR), ensuring verified identities and proper business context.

Strengthens governance and security for AI agents across enterprises.
Supports open ecosystem for building AI agents on preferred platforms.
As AI agents become integral to workflows, organizations face difficulties in tracking access, roles, and value. Without centralized management, businesses risk fragmented operations, governance issues, security vulnerabilities, and unrealized AI potential. The Workday-Microsoft partnership introduces a unified system to bring order to this growing AI workforce.
The collaboration connects Workday ASOR with Microsoft Entra Agent ID, allowing easy registration and management of agents. "As AI agents become a huge part of how we work, managing and securing them across different systems is a real challenge. Our commitment to an open ecosystem is about giving organizations the flexibility to build their fleet of AI agents on the platform of their choice," said Gerrit Kazmaier, president of product and technology, Workday.
"Our partnership with Workday is a breakthrough in delivering the trust organizations need to adopt AI," said Charles Lamanna, president, business and industry Copilot, Microsoft. "By seamlessly registering agents built with Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry into Workday's Agent System of Record, we're giving customers full visibility into their AI ecosystem. This integration equips leaders with actionable analytics to measure ROI, enforce governance, and ensure their AI agents are secure and delivering real value."
Organizations can now seamlessly build and register AI agents in an open ecosystem, such as registering a Copilot Studio agent for employee onboarding directly in Workday. Leaders gain insights through ASOR analytics, tracking agent usage, time saved, and productivity gains to measure ROI. The integration fosters human-agent collaboration, enabling seamless handoffs—like updating career goals from Microsoft 365 Copilot to Workday—while preserving context. Robust governance ensures agents with Entra identities remain secure, with administrators monitoring access and activity for compliance.
This partnership empowers the intelligent enterprise by simplifying AI agent deployment and oversight. With Workday and Microsoft combining strengths, organizations can harness AI's full potential securely, focusing on innovation and outcomes rather than operational complexity.
