Serco, a global public services provider, is utilizing the Boomi Enterprise Platform to drive rapid innovation through generative AI, speeding up integration development and enabling business users to create foundational integrations efficiently. Operating across defense, healthcare, justice, and community services in the Asia Pacific region, Serco selected Boomi for its low-code accessibility, user-friendliness, and rapid integration building and monitoring capabilities.
Serco's adoption of Boomi focuses on modernizing operations by streamlining data flows, improving master data management, and simplifying API connectivity. The platform's low-code environment allows for quick integration builds and monitoring, aligning with Serco's goal to serve governments efficiently in Asia Pacific sectors like defense and healthcare.
Inspired by last year's Boomi World Tour Sydney, Serco discovered the potential of existing Boomi AI agents within their Enterprise Platform license. “We’ve always used Boomi for core integration, but what we uncovered at last year’s Boomi World Tour Sydney completely reframed what’s possible,” said Kiran Narayan, Director, Products and Digital Capabilities at Serco. “We realised that powerful Boomi AI agents like Boomi Scribe and Boomi DesignGen were already sitting within our Boomi Enterprise Platform license. Within minutes, we were experimenting with them live. That moment kickstarted a brand new way of thinking and working.” The team quickly tested and deployed these agents, which use natural language prompts to facilitate faster integration processes.
Boomi Scribe serves as the foundation for integration documentation, generating clear documents that explain interface mechanics, while DesignGen provides visual aids for better team communication and stakeholder trust. "Previously, it would take an integration developer around two or three hours to write up a document formatted in a way customers understand. With Boomi Scribe, it takes 10 to 15 minutes,” said Kiran. This has led to substantial time savings on major projects, reducing overall documentation efforts from 40 to 60 hours to just 6 to 12 hours.
Following the implementation, Serco transitioned its integration workloads to Boomi Managed Cloud Service, with upcoming activation of Boomi Event Streams for real-time data flow and alerting. The focus now shifts to Boomi Agentstudio to empower business leaders in creating initial integrations. “With Boomi, we eliminate bottlenecks without losing control,” he said. “Empowering business users to model within a governed framework dramatically accelerates how quickly value can be delivered.” Boomi DataHub and API Management further support data quality and information integrity goals.
Serco's advancements with Boomi demonstrate a strategic embrace of AI-driven automation, fostering excitement among leadership and positioning the organization for agile, efficient public service delivery.
