AI agents are becoming a core part of enterprise software, but connecting them securely across applications and environments remains a major challenge. PubNub has introduced Blocks.ai, a global network designed to simplify AI agent connectivity by allowing developers to connect, discover, and control AI agents across different frameworks, providers, and APIs without requiring complex networking configurations.

Quick Intel

  • PubNub launches Blocks.ai, a global network for connecting AI agents across frameworks and APIs.
  • Developers can securely access AI agents without opening ports, configuring firewalls, or changing DNS settings.
  • The platform enables AI agents to discover and interact with other agents across the network.
  • Open-source SDKs for TypeScript and Python simplify AI agent integration.
  • Blocks.ai is built on PubNub's real-time infrastructure with zero-trust security, SOC 2, GDPR compliance, and a 99.999% SLA.
  • The platform is generally available for developers starting today.

AI Agent Connectivity Without Infrastructure Complexity

PubNub has unveiled Blocks.ai, a platform designed to address one of the biggest barriers to enterprise AI adoption: securely connecting AI agents regardless of where they are hosted. Whether an AI agent runs locally, behind a firewall, or within a private environment, Blocks.ai enables developers to make it globally accessible without exposing inbound ports, configuring tunnels, modifying DNS, or changing firewall settings.

According to PubNub, the platform extends its long-established real-time connectivity infrastructure to what it describes as the "Internet of Agents," allowing organizations to securely connect AI agents while maintaining complete ownership of their infrastructure and data.

“You can build a great agent in an afternoon, but it often just sits there, isolated on your machine,” said Todd Greene, CEO of PubNub. “With Blocks, build an agent, connect it once, and it’s available to any frontend, application, or user who needs it. Blocks Network is the global agent control plane to connect, call, and share efficiencies without rebuilding anything.”

Enabling AI Agents to Discover and Use Other AI Capabilities

Beyond making AI agents reachable, Blocks.ai enables connected agents to discover and invoke capabilities offered by other agents on the network, regardless of the framework used to build them.

Developers can integrate services such as code review, transcription, PDF generation, QR code creation, data extraction, and streaming compute through discoverable capabilities rather than building and maintaining individual integrations. Applications, backend services, web applications, and mobile apps can also access these capabilities using open-source SDKs without managing multiple API keys across different providers.

This approach allows organizations to extend AI functionality while keeping their own agents hosted in their preferred environments.

Enterprise-Ready Security and Open Architecture

Blocks.ai is built on PubNub's real-time platform, providing enterprise-grade connectivity backed by zero-trust security, a 99.999% service-level agreement, SOC 2 certification, and GDPR compliance.

The platform offers open-source SDKs for TypeScript and Python under the Apache-2.0 license, giving developers transparency, auditability, and flexibility without vendor lock-in.

“What makes this resonate with businesses is that nothing about it asks them to give up control,” said Greene. "Your agent stays on your machine and your data stays yours, yet you can reach it from anywhere, let it call other agents on the network, and share it so your customers and partners can call it too. It's open, it's auditable, it's secure, and it doesn't lock you into anyone's stack, including ours."

Extending PubNub's Real-Time Network to AI Agents

PubNub positions Blocks.ai as a natural evolution of its existing real-time connectivity platform, which currently powers billions of connected devices globally. By expanding its infrastructure to AI agents, the company aims to simplify enterprise AI deployment while reducing the networking complexity that often prevents AI projects from reaching production.

“This launch marks a natural evolution for PubNub,” Todd continued, “which powers real-time connectivity for billions of devices every day. With Blocks.ai, the company is applying that same network to a new class of endpoint: AI agents that need to be reachable, connected, and secure wherever they run."

Blocks.ai Now Generally Available

Blocks.ai is now generally available. Developers can connect AI agents and make them globally callable using the open-source TypeScript and Python SDKs or the command-line interface (CLI).

Developers can also access the platform's documentation to begin integrating AI agents into their applications and services.

PubNub's latest launch reflects the growing demand for interoperable AI infrastructure that enables organizations to securely deploy, connect, and scale AI agents while maintaining control over their data, environments, and technology stack.

About PubNub
