OneStream, the AI operating system for modern Finance, has announced the general availability of SensibleAI™ Agents at its OneStream Splash User Conference. The pre-built agents operate natively on the OneStream platform and are now integrated into the Microsoft 365 suite, covering reporting, financial analysis, and informational search. Alongside this, OneStream has introduced a new Finance Agentic Layer that extends these governed capabilities to third-party AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, enabling finance teams to forecast, guide, and report on business performance without leaving the tools they already use.

  • OneStream has announced the general availability of SensibleAI™ Agents, now integrated into Microsoft 365 including Excel and Teams.
  • A new Finance Agentic Layer uses open Model Context Protocol (MCP) to give third-party AI tools governed access to OneStream financial data.
  • Finance teams can use Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini for financial queries while maintaining role-based permissions and full auditability.
  • Four agents are available: Forecast Agent, Finance Analyst Agent, Search Analyst Agent, and Deep Analysis Agent.
  • Cox Enterprises is among early adopters, using SensibleAI Agents to automate financial analysis and surface variance drivers faster.
  • A strategic partnership with Microsoft brings finance-grade AI governance directly into the Microsoft 365 environment.

Closing the Governance Gap in Finance AI

A central challenge facing finance teams adopting AI is the absence of financial context, governance, and auditability within general-purpose AI tools. Generic AI operates without the business rules, account logic, and permission controls that financial decision-making requires, creating a meaningful gap between AI capability and enterprise-grade reliability.

OneStream addresses this directly through its Finance Agentic Layer, which uses the open Model Context Protocol (MCP) to give any AI tool secure, governed access to OneStream data. Every interaction is authenticated against the user's OneStream identity and enforced against existing role-based permissions, ensuring that users working in any connected AI tool only access the data they are entitled to see. Administrators retain full visibility into usage and activity within OneStream, providing the control and auditability that regulated financial operations demand.

"Finance teams are moving quickly to adopt AI, but generic tools operate without the financial context, logic, and governance required for financial decision-making," said Tom Shea, founder and CEO of OneStream. "The unlock for Finance AI is connecting to trusted data, business rules, and controlled workflows. With our Finance Agentic Layer and SensibleAI Agents, organizations can use AI to produce accurate, auditable results, grounded in their financial data and controls, without leaving the tools they use every day, such as Microsoft Teams, ChatGPT, and others."

Microsoft Partnership Brings Finance-Grade AI Into Microsoft 365

The integration of SensibleAI™ Agents into Microsoft 365 is underpinned by a strategic partnership with Microsoft, designed to bring financial context and data governance directly into productivity tools such as Excel, Teams, and Copilot.

"As a leader in AI and productivity, we understand how critical financial context and data governance are to delivering AI that Finance can rely on," said Tony Surma, CTO, Microsoft Americas Enterprise Partner Solutions. "Our strategic partnership with OneStream brings these requirements into the Microsoft 365 environment, so products like Copilot or Excel can deliver outcomes that finance teams can trust."

This partnership reflects a broader industry direction toward embedding enterprise governance within everyday productivity workflows, rather than requiring finance teams to operate across separate, disconnected platforms.

Finance Agentic Layer: Any AI Tool, Trusted Financial Outcomes

The Finance Agentic Layer extends OneStream's governed data environment to third-party AI tools, allowing finance teams to work within their preferred interfaces while still benefiting from OneStream's financial logic and controls. Practical use cases illustrate the depth of this capability.

When a finance team uses ChatGPT to request a dashboard showing trends, variances, and forecast projections, the Finance Agentic Layer retrieves the relevant reports from OneStream and delivers a C-level output within minutes. Similarly, when a finance analyst asks Claude Cowork why revenue is down in a given quarter, the Finance Agentic Layer interprets the plain-language query, applies the correct financial context, and returns a structured answer with drivers such as price, volume, and mix, accompanied by supporting visuals.

This plain-language accessibility removes the barrier of technical syntax or account code knowledge, allowing analysts to focus on insight rather than data retrieval.

SensibleAI Agents: Built for the Work Finance Does Every Day

SensibleAI™ Agents, first launched in 2025, are now generally available and widely deployed across some of the most complex enterprise environments. Four agents are currently available, each targeting a distinct area of financial operations.

The Forecast Agent enables plain-language queries against real-time forecast data, returning answers in financial terms. The Finance Analyst Agent delivers real-time, automated financial analysis at scale using natural language queries against OneStream data. The Search Analyst Agent provides enterprise search with source transparency across documents, platform guides, and unstructured data. The Deep Analysis Agent handles exhaustive document search across large volumes of contracts, agreements, and compliance materials, surfacing connections across unstructured data for high-stakes, high-complexity questions.

Together, these agents are designed to automate the analytical and reporting workflows that finance teams perform repeatedly, reducing manual effort and accelerating decision-making cycles.

Cox Enterprises Deploys SensibleAI Agents for Financial Analysis

Cox Enterprises is among the organizations partnering with OneStream to deploy SensibleAI™ Agents for financial analysis automation. The deployment has shifted how the finance team interacts with data, reducing reliance on manual information retrieval in favor of AI-driven insight generation.

"OneStream's SensibleAI Agents are changing how our team works with data," said Allison Adrian, AVP of Finance Solutions Delivery at Cox Enterprises. "Instead of manually searching for information, we can quickly uncover insights into trends, root causes, and what's driving variances so our team can focus on insights that drive smarter, faster decision-making."

The Cox Enterprises example illustrates how SensibleAI™ Agents translate into operational outcomes, enabling finance teams to spend less time on data gathering and more time on the analysis that drives business strategy.

With the general availability of SensibleAI™ Agents and the introduction of the Finance Agentic Layer, OneStream is making a clear case for a governed, finance-specific approach to enterprise AI adoption. By integrating natively with Microsoft 365 and opening access to tools like Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini through MCP, the platform removes the trade-off between AI accessibility and financial control. For CFO offices navigating the pressure to adopt AI while maintaining auditability and data integrity, OneStream's latest announcements offer a structured and scalable path forward.
