Rather than granting agents unconstrained write access at install or restricting them permanently to passive dashboards, the framework defines a four-level trust spectrum across which agents operate and progress based on verified performance. L0 (Read and Recommend) provides strict read-only access with root cause diagnosis and remediation recommendations. L1 (Human-Gated) requires explicit human sign-off before execution for high-stakes state changes. L2 (Policy-Bounded) executes low-risk remediations automatically within strict policy parameters. L3 (Earned Autonomy) runs high-confidence operations autonomously inside strict VPC containment with real-time circuit breakers and instant auto-rollback, requiring demonstrated RCA accuracy with no self-escalation.
NeuBird AI applies the Earned Autonomy principles to its own production ops agent across four commitments: In-VPC Execution keeping telemetry and data inside the customer's environment; Policy-Bounded Access with least-privilege, temporary credentials and blast-radius limits; Human-in-the-Loop and Circuit Breakers with explicit sign-offs and automated rollback; and Immutable Audit Trail for logged rationale and actions. The Production Ops Agent runs on-premises, in VPC, in the cloud, across hybrid topologies, and in isolated and regulated environments including air-gapped deployments.
