MariaDB plc has announced the immediate availability of MariaDB Enterprise Platform 2026, positioning it as a comprehensive database platform for building next-generation intelligent applications. This unified platform eliminates complexity by integrating transactional, analytical, and AI database engines into a single high-performance solution. With native vector search, built-in RAG pipelines, and intelligent agents, the platform accelerates agentic AI application development by enabling AI agents to autonomously access and extract insights from enterprise data.

Quick Intel

  • MariaDB launches Enterprise Platform 2026 for AI development

  • Unifies transactional, analytical and AI workloads in single platform

  • Features native vector search and built-in RAG capabilities

  • Includes embedded AI copilots for developers and DBAs

  • Supports Model Context Protocol servers for agent integration

  • Offers serverless cloud deployment for AI-driven applications

Simplifying Agentic AI Development

The platform addresses key challenges in AI application development by providing integrated capabilities that eliminate architectural friction. MariaDB Enterprise Platform 2026 introduces a native "RAG-in-a-Box" solution that automatically grounds large language models with context from data stored in MariaDB, removing the need for separate embeddings, vector stores, or retrieval pipelines. The platform also includes embedded AI copilots that enable natural language interactions with data and integrated MCP servers that allow AI agents to seamlessly interact with MariaDB databases and perform advanced data operations.

Executive Vision and Performance

MariaDB leadership emphasized the platform's strategic importance for AI-driven innovation. "The future of applications is agentic. AI agents need to probe, analyze and transact in real time and at enormous scale. At the same time, agents need to be grounded in insights contained in enterprise data that is trapped in fragmented silos today," said Vikas Mathur, chief product officer at MariaDB plc. "MariaDB Enterprise Platform 2026 is purpose-built to eliminate that architectural friction. In combining transactional, analytical and AI workloads, we are enabling our customers to build the next wave of intelligent applications on a single database platform."

The platform delivers significant performance improvements, with MariaDB Enterprise Server 11.8 achieving 250% better performance compared to the 10.6 release in initial benchmarking. The introduction of MariaDB Exa enables multi-terabyte complex analytics on operational data at speeds over 1,000 times faster than traditional OLTP engines.

Enterprise-Grade Capabilities

Beyond AI-specific features, the platform enhances enterprise readiness with comprehensive management tools and security enhancements. A new enterprise manager provides advanced observability and management solutions with topology-aware monitoring and visual tools for query development. Security is strengthened through an enhanced database firewall in MariaDB MaxScale, giving administrators programmatic control over data queries to reduce security risks. The serverless cloud offering provides elastic scalability and cost efficiency for unpredictable AI agent demands.

About MariaDB

MariaDB seeks to eliminate the constraints and complexity of proprietary databases, enabling organizations to reinvest in what matters most – rapidly developing innovative, customer-facing applications. Enterprises can depend on a single complete cloud database platform for all their needs, that can be deployed in minutes for transactional, analytical, hybrid and AI use cases. Trusted by organizations such as Deutsche Bank, DBS Bank, Red Hat, ServiceNow and Samsung – MariaDB delivers customer value without the financial burden of legacy database providers.
