Kion, the leading FinOps platform for automated governance, today announced Kion v3.15, introducing FinOps+—a next-generation operating model powered by Lux, Kion’s embedded AI agent. Lux delivers context-aware insights, guided actions, and automation directly within the platform using natural language, helping teams manage cloud spend, enforce policies, and accelerate decision-making across hybrid architectures that now include public cloud, AI workloads, and SaaS applications.
“FinOps teams are operating in a very different environment than they were in a few years ago. Most enterprises are managing hybrid architectures while increasing investment across cloud, AI and SaaS, which expands both the scope and complexity of financial accountability,” said Jevin Jensen, Research Vice President, Infrastructure and Operations, IDC. “As that footprint grows, teams need approaches that support consistent visibility and governance across the portfolio, without adding more disconnected tools. The focus is shifting towards practices and platforms like Kion that help FinOps scale in a more sustainable, operational way.”
FinOps+ combines automated governance for proactive guardrails, AI-driven FinOps for faster insight and execution, and visibility beyond public cloud to optimize costs across the full technology portfolio. With Lux, users can query spend trends, forecast budgets, implement policies, and navigate platform features conversationally—without switching tools or requiring deep expertise. All interactions remain governed by Kion’s controls, with human-in-the-loop approvals for transparency and safety.
Lux is configurable with leading AI providers including OpenAI and Anthropic (Claude Haiku, Sonnet, Opus via Amazon Bedrock) and is architected for security-first deployment. Unlike SaaS alternatives that send data externally, Kion keeps infrastructure, processing, and model execution entirely within the customer’s authorized cloud account—critical for regulated industries. Additional v3.15 enhancements include Scopes for metadata-driven ownership and chargeback accuracy, flexible dashboard sharing, and dark mode for improved usability.
“FinOps is at a point where the expectations are higher and the opportunity is bigger. Teams need more than just insight; they need to make smarter decisions, faster. We’re excited to introduce Lux to help organizations rapidly accelerate their FinOps maturity, no matter where they are in their journey,” said Tatum Tummins, Senior Product Manager, Kion. “Many teams today rely on a small group of experts to answer questions, build policies, or interpret spend data, which can create bottlenecks as complexity grows. Lux embeds that intelligence directly into the platform, giving teams immediate answers and guided action. We are excited to remove friction, empower more stakeholders and help organizations scale FinOps without adding headcount.”
Kion’s FinOps+ approach unifies automated governance, AI-driven decision-making, and extended visibility to help organizations proactively eliminate waste, optimize across cloud, AI, and SaaS, and achieve sustainable operational excellence.
