JumpCloud Inc. has announced the extension of its Agentic IAM capabilities. The platform now manages AI agents alongside human employees and devices, giving IT teams the ability to govern agent access across data, apps, and everyday tasks.
As AI agents handle more company tasks, IT teams face a major challenge: Only 21% have adopted governance controls for them. They need to know which agents exist, who owns them, where they live, and when to cut off access. JumpCloud solves this by bringing humans, devices and agents into one place.
JumpCloud manages AI agents across three core areas:
Visibility and ownership: Give IT teams a clear view of every AI agent and treat each one as a real identity. Every agent is tied to a human owner and tracked from creation to retirement. Agents registered in JumpCloud can't run without an assigned owner.
Identity and access control: Connect every human and agent login to the automated tasks they perform. IT can trace every agent back to its human owner and track its actions. This helps reduce shadow AI and creates an automatic audit log.
Governance and privileged access: Apply privileged access management (PAM) rules directly to AI agents. Agents get temporary, least-privilege access that automatically expires when the task is complete. This lets organizations safely connect AI to legacy systems without expensive upgrades.
"AI agents are changing how identity management works," said Joel Rennich, senior vice president, product management, JumpCloud. "These tools act fast. IT must know which agents exist, who owns them, and what they can touch. Agentic IAM brings that control into the same identity infrastructure companies already use for employees and devices."
"AI agents don't just access systems; they act inside them. That makes identity the control plane for AI security," said Rahul Kamdar, senior vice president of product at JumpCloud. "As agents become more autonomous, each needs a verifiable identity, explicit access boundaries, and governance across its lifecycle."
Key capabilities for secure agentic lifecycle management include AI Agent Identity & Access to give each AI agent a unique identity so admins can audit activity or revoke access instantly without locking out the employee, Shadow AI to Secure MCP Connection to automatically find hidden Model Context Protocol setups and route them safely through JumpCloud AI Gateway, Enforced Approved SaaS Access to apply security, device trust, and access policies uniformly across every AI tool and app, and PAM MCP Server to replace risky shared API keys with a zero-setup PAM agent that locks permissions to isolated agent identities coming before end of Q4 2026.
By consolidating identity, device, and agent governance into a single console, JumpCloud enables organizations to scale AI in a secure and intelligent way.
