Incredibuild has announced the launch of Islo, a specialized sandbox designed to provide a secure and isolated execution environment for AI coding agents. As AI agents increasingly move from generating code to testing and modifying production systems, Islo addresses the critical need for execution control and security. By decoupling agent activity from local developer machines and placing it into a governed, cloud-based environment, Islo enables AI agents to operate continuously—24/7—without exposing sensitive data or unrestricted access to enterprise infrastructure.
Purpose: Provides fully isolated "computers" for AI agents to prevent unauthorized system access and security gaps.
Continuous Operation: Agents run in the cloud, meaning they stay active even when a developer's laptop is closed.
Granular Control: Offers explicit policy governance over how agents interact with codebases, GitHub, and Jira.
Acceleration: Leverages Incredibuild’s core technology to speed up compute-heavy CI/CD and build tasks.
Partnership: Native integration with the Harbor Framework for large-scale AI benchmarks and reinforcement learning (RL) evaluations.
Governance: Features human checkpoints to ensure autonomous systems remain under expert supervision.
One of the primary friction points in current AI development is that agents typically run on a developer’s local machine. This introduces two risks: the agent dies when the machine goes offline, and it inherits the developer's full permissions, creating a massive security vulnerability. Islo solves this by giving every agent its own persistent, long-running dev environment.
"We built Islo because we believe that every AI agent needs its own computer," said Adam Gold, Director of Product Engineering at Incredibuild. "Not an ephemeral container, but a long-running dev environment with its own running services, scoped credentials, and a lifecycle that doesn't depend on human supervision."
Islo is designed to be a missing layer in the AI development stack, providing the infrastructure necessary for production-grade workflows. Beyond standard coding tasks, Islo is targeting the AI research sector through a partnership with the Harbor Framework. This allows RL engineers and benchmark authors to run large-scale evaluations in reproducible, cloud-based sandboxes that defend against "reward-hacking" and provide deep observability into every rollout.
By combining this sandbox with Incredibuild's existing acceleration intelligence, teams can significantly reduce the time required for build and test cycles, effectively allowing software shipping to keep pace with the velocity of AI generation.
About Incredibuild
Incredibuild is the industry-leading SDLC execution acceleration and intelligence platform used by over 600 customers, including Microsoft, Take-Two, and Barclays. Its technology allows organizations to run GitHub Actions faster and achieve zero-code-change acceleration across Windows, Linux, and Mac. Its Islo execution control plane provides the necessary layer to safely scale AI coding agents within real production workflows.
