IBM has announced a series of enhancements to its Power platform, introducing AI-powered autonomous operations, expanded application development capabilities, and a new compact Power11 server. The updates are designed to help enterprises automate infrastructure management, modernize IBM i applications, and support AI workloads across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
IBM is extending autonomous IT capabilities across its Power platform by embedding AI agents into enterprise operations, application development, and infrastructure management. Building on the Power11 platform introduced last year, the company aims to help organizations manage increasingly complex AI-driven environments while maintaining governance, resilience, and operational control.
According to IBM, enterprises are expected to significantly increase AI agent adoption over the coming years, making automation and intelligent infrastructure management essential for scaling AI operations.
IBM Power Autonomous Operations introduces an embedded AI agent that continuously monitors Power environments, automates routine system management, and helps resolve operational issues through conversational interactions.
The platform enables IT teams to manage infrastructure using natural language prompts while automating optimization, performance tuning, and system operations. IBM states that the solution can resolve capacity constraint issues up to 15 times faster than manual intervention, helping organizations reduce operational complexity while improving system availability.
IBM has also expanded its AI-powered development capabilities with the IBM Bob Premium Package for i, designed to simplify application modernization for IBM i environments.
The solution provides agentic software development lifecycle (SDLC) capabilities that help developers understand legacy RPG code, generate documentation, accelerate onboarding, and modernize applications more efficiently. By reducing dependence on specialized IBM i expertise, IBM Bob enables a broader group of developers to contribute to application development and modernization projects.
IBM introduced the Power S1112, a new single-socket Power11 server designed for compact on-premises deployments. The server supports local AI inference through Power11's on-chip Matrix Math Acceleration (MMA) technology while delivering improved core performance and greater energy efficiency compared to previous Power systems.
To support customers deploying the new platform, IBM Technology Lifecycle Services is introducing IBM Power Expert Care Premium Essentials, providing priority technical support, faster response times, and intelligent support automation specifically for the Power S1112.
IBM highlighted several organizations already leveraging the Power platform across on-premises and cloud environments.

IBM expects the Power S1112 server to become generally available on July 24, 2026, while IBM Power Autonomous Operations is scheduled for availability on September 23, 2026. IBM Bob Premium Package for i became generally available on June 24, 2026.
