HighByte, an industrial software company, has launched HighByte Intelligence Hub version 4.2, introducing an Industrial Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server to enable Agentic AI and large language model (LLM)-assisted data contextualization. This release strengthens industrial DataOps by providing seamless integration with AI agents and enhancing connectivity to cloud and edge systems, addressing the complexities of industrial data management.

Quick Intel

  • HighByte Intelligence Hub 4.2 introduces the first Industrial MCP Server for Agentic AI integration.

  • Enables AI agents to access industrial systems for real-time and historical data requests.

  • Supports native connections to Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini, and local LLMs.

  • Adds Git integration and OpenTelemetry for improved DevOps and observability.

  • Enhances connectors for Databricks, TimescaleDB, Apache Kafka, and Amazon S3.

  • Optimizes Oracle Database, Snowflake, and AVEVA PI System connectivity for industrial use cases.

Industrial MCP Server Powers Agentic AI

The Industrial MCP Server in HighByte Intelligence Hub 4.2 marks a significant advancement in industrial AI applications. By exposing data pipelines as tools to AI agents, complete with descriptions and parameters, the platform enables secure access to connected industrial systems. This allows AI agents to perform real-time or historical data requests, streamlining operations and enhancing decision-making on the factory floor. The solution addresses the challenge of fragmented industrial data, making it accessible and actionable for AI-driven processes.

LLM-Assisted Data Contextualization

HighByte Intelligence Hub 4.2 integrates with leading LLMs, including Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenAI, and local LLMs, to provide advanced data contextualization. This capability allows industrial organizations to standardize and contextualize data from diverse sources, enabling AI agents to process complex datasets efficiently. According to John Harrington, Chief Product Officer at HighByte, “The Intelligence Hub is an Industrial DataOps solution that contextualizes and standardizes industrial data from diverse sources for diverse targets. Agentic AI clients on the factory floor are a natural extension of this approach. We’re enabling DataOps to feed AI, and AI to assist and scale DataOps.”

Enhanced Connectivity for Cloud and Edge

The release introduces new connectors for Databricks and TimescaleDB, alongside enhanced integration with Apache Kafka and Amazon S3, optimizing cloud-to-edge workflows. Additionally, the Oracle Database connection now supports Change Data Capture (CDC), the Snowflake SQL connection enables write operations, and the AVEVA PI System connection offers improved PI point metadata reads. These enhancements ensure robust bi-directional connectivity across cloud, data center, and factory floor environments, supporting scalable and secure data management.

DevOps and Observability Improvements

HighByte Intelligence Hub 4.2 incorporates Git integration and OpenTelemetry (OTel) support, enabling seamless version control and observability for industrial deployments. These features align with DevOps practices, allowing organizations to manage and scale their data infrastructure efficiently. This is particularly valuable for industries like manufacturing, life sciences, and oil and gas, where regulatory compliance and real-time decision-making are critical.

Real-World Impact on Industrial Operations

The platform’s capabilities have been recognized by industry leaders. Andrey Gorbokonenko, Senior IT Business Intelligence Developer at Idahoan Foods, stated, “The Industrial MCP Server for HighByte Intelligence Hub enables us to rapidly prototype and experiment with Agentic AI on our shop floor. We are leveraging HighByte’s broad connectivity to integrate data from multiple sources and curate contextualized datasets for AI Agents focused on quality process control improvement. We’re particularly excited about developing agents that enable Plant Operators to interact with data in a more natural, conversational manner. HighByte provides the data infrastructure we need to address current use cases and support future digital transformation initiatives.”

HighByte Intelligence Hub 4.2 empowers industrial organizations to overcome data integration challenges, leveraging AI and DataOps to drive operational efficiency and innovation. With its comprehensive connectivity and advanced AI capabilities, the platform positions companies to excel in the evolving Industry 4.0 landscape.
