Google Cloud and Nokia have announced an expanded partnership that integrates Google’s Gemini models into Nokia’s network software suite, specifically the Nokia Assurance Center. The collaboration introduces a set of AI-driven agents designed to help telecom operators shift from manual network management to autonomous, self-healing network operations that reduce costs, improve reliability, and accelerate issue resolution.
The partnership addresses a growing challenge in telecommunications: the increasing complexity and volume of network data. Traditional network operations rely heavily on manual monitoring and troubleshooting, which can struggle to keep up with real-time system demands. By embedding Gemini-powered AI agents, Nokia aims to enable faster identification of critical issues and reduce downtime across telecom infrastructure.
At the core of this initiative is a shift toward AI-native, programmable networks capable of operating at machine speed. According to Nokia, modern telecom environments require systems that can interpret vast data streams and automate decision-making processes without relying solely on human intervention. The integration of Gemini models into Nokia Assurance Center supports this transformation by enabling real-time reasoning across network operations.

The agents are built using Google Cloud’s Agent Development Kit (ADK) on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. This allows Nokia to deploy AI capabilities using standard cloud infrastructure such as Kubernetes and Google Cloud Storage, ensuring scalability, cost efficiency, and compatibility with existing telecom environments.
The system is designed to function across hybrid and multicloud deployments, enabling operators to integrate AI-driven automation without overhauling their existing infrastructure.
A key feature of the solution is what Nokia calls “glass box autonomy.” Rather than fully replacing human operators, the system provides AI-generated recommendations with confidence scoring, allowing engineers to approve or override actions. This ensures that critical network changes remain under human control while still benefiting from automation-driven speed and accuracy. In low-risk scenarios, the system can also execute closed-loop automation.

The first two AI agents—router and event triage—are already operational, with additional agents planned for phased rollout. The full suite will be available as a SaaS offering on the Google Cloud Marketplace beginning September 2026, with further enhancements continuing into 2027.
