Equinix, Inc. has announced the immediate availability of Equinix Fabric Intelligence™, a new AI-native operational layer designed to transform how enterprises manage their global network infrastructure. By shifting away from legacy software-defined networking (SDN) toward an autonomous, AI-powered control plane, Fabric Intelligence simplifies the complex connectivity requirements of modern AI workflows across multi-cloud, edge, and data center environments.

  • Launch Date: April 15, 2026.

  • Core Platform: Fabric Intelligence™, the AI-native operational layer for Equinix Fabric®.

  • Strategic Foundation: Powering the Equinix Distributed AI™ Hub to bridge the gap between AI speed and network capacity.

  • Availability: Now open for preview; live demonstrations available at Google Cloud Next 2026 (Booth 7101).

  • Global Scale: Operates across Equinix's footprint of 280 data centers in 77 metropolitan areas.

  • Industry Standards: Follows Equinix's appointment as a Gold Member of the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) in February 2026.

Automating the Backbone of AI

As AI adoption accelerates, traditional network operations teams often face bottlenecks caused by manual workflows and rigid architectures. Fabric Intelligence addresses these challenges by automating the deployment and maintenance of global connections. According to research from Omdia, 93% of organizations now view network automation as essential for future operations.

"Networking infrastructure needs to be faster and more flexible than ever before. Fabric Intelligence turns infrastructure from a constraint to a competitive advantage by enabling our customers to spend less time managing complexity and more time moving their business forward." — Jon Lin, Chief Business Officer at Equinix

The Fabric Intelligence Suite

Fabric Intelligence consists of four primary components designed to integrate seamlessly with modern developer and IT workflows:

  1. Fabric Super Agent: An AI-powered assistant that allows users to design, deploy, and manage networks using natural language through Slack, Microsoft Teams, or the Equinix Portal. It can reduce deployment timelines from weeks to minutes.

  2. MCP Server: Utilizes the Model Context Protocol to allow developers to integrate Equinix infrastructure with top AI clients like Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and VS Code Copilot.

  3. Fabric Application Connect: A private, dedicated marketplace for AI services (inference, training, storage), enabling secure development without exposing sensitive data to the public internet.

  4. Fabric Insights: Predictive network monitoring that uses real-time telemetry to flag anomalies before they cause downtime, integrating directly with Splunk and Datadog.

Building the Autonomous Economy

The launch reinforces Equinix's commitment to the Agentic AI Foundation, an open-source movement aimed at reducing fragmentation and improving interoperability for autonomous AI agents. By providing the underlying "intelligence layer" for networking, Equinix is positioning its global fabric as the essential infrastructure for the next generation of distributed AI applications.
