Datadog has announced the general availability of its MCP Server, a purpose-built interface that provides AI agents with secure, real-time access to unified observability data from the Datadog platform. This enables developers and operations teams to embed AI agents into workflows for faster debugging, automated remediation, and governed operations at scale.
As organizations increasingly integrate AI agents into development, DevOps, and security workflows, teams face growing complexity in providing secure, governed access to production data. Datadog MCP Server addresses these challenges by extending the company’s unified observability platform directly into AI-driven environments.
Yanbing Li, Chief Product Officer at Datadog, said: “Datadog delivers AI solutions that transform complexity into clarity and blind spots into security, helping protect global businesses and make operations seamless. We are always listening to our customers and the biggest problems they are facing in their day-to-day work, which is why we are excited to launch our MCP Server as the latest way to help teams become more efficient in using Datadog to build and scale AI systems across their organizations. By combining telemetry from Datadog’s unified observability platform into teams’ AI workflows, we are enabling the next stage of AI-native development—moving from simply AI copilots to AI operating on live production systems.”
MCP Server allows AI agents to consume live observability signals without manual intervention or context switching. Developers can investigate production issues in their preferred AI coding tools or IDEs with immediate access to relevant logs, metrics, and traces.
Custom agents gain the ability to act on Datadog’s proactive detection and remediation insights, enabling automated responses to incidents while adhering to organizational security and compliance policies.
The purpose-built protocol minimizes integration friction and protects against breaking changes, making it easier to maintain reliable, scalable AI workflows across Dev, Ops, and Security functions.
“AI compounds complexity, especially with its pace of innovation. Datadog is helping to solve that complexity for customers with launches like MCP Server by enabling autonomy across Dev, Ops and Security teams so that they can not only detect, decide and act on issues within Datadog, but also build, deliver and evaluate software throughout the development process,” said Li.
By bridging observability data with agentic AI systems, MCP Server helps organizations operationalize AI responsibly. It ensures agents operate within defined guardrails, reduces risk exposure, and accelerates time to resolution for production issues—all while leveraging Datadog’s comprehensive monitoring, security, and intelligence capabilities.
This launch reinforces Datadog’s role in powering AI-driven transformation for cloud-native applications across industries.
