Andela Inc., one of the world's largest marketplaces for technical talent, has expanded its Andela AI Academy into a practical, production-focused upskilling initiative. Originally launched in partnership with GitHub to train developers on GitHub Copilot, the program has evolved to address real enterprise needs for AI engineering fluency. Andela aims to train 15,000 technologists by 2026, creating a just-in-time pipeline of AI-ready talent while enabling organizations to continuously upskill internal teams.

Bridging the AI Skills Gap for Enterprises The rapid pace of AI innovation is outpacing organizations' ability to deliver value. Development teams struggle with new tools, frameworks, and patterns, resulting in slower cycles, rising costs, and stalled initiatives. Andela AI Academy addresses this by providing continuous, outcome-focused learning tied to real business problems. The program equips participants to architect, deploy, and maintain production-grade AI systems while embedding guardrails for responsible adoption.
Four Core Learning Tracks The expanded Academy concentrates on four specialized tracks designed for enterprise relevance:
Proven Early Results and Real-World Impact Initial participants have already demonstrated strong outcomes. The first 80 Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) completed training to architect and maintain production systems, while 200 others advanced into agentic architectures, LLMOps, and deployment patterns through iterative projects, peer reviews, and mentoring.
"The program really sharpened my ability to break down business problems and map them to the right GenAI approach — not just building something that 'looks like AI,' but something that actually fits into an organization's existing systems and delivers measurable value," said Asoluka Tochukwu Austin of Nigeria, a program graduate.
Dual Approach: New Talent and Internal Upskilling Andela offers the training free to its global technologist network and through a Training as a Service (TAAS) model to organizations. This enables enterprises to upskill teams without pausing roadmaps, pairing internal reskilling with Andela's AI-native talent to maintain delivery momentum while building long-term capability.
"The speed of AI innovation is outpacing organizations' ability to create value from it," said Carrol Chang, Andela CEO. "The half-life of technical skills is shrinking, and learning has to happen continuously in the flow of work, tied to real business outcomes. Andela's AI Academy will bring the engineering talent of the future to the forefront."
Driving AI Transformation Globally With graduates entering the market rapidly and new cohorts launching soon, Andela positions itself as a key enabler of AI-native talent ecosystems. The initiative supports faster, more confident AI adoption across enterprises while ensuring skills remain current in an evolving technology landscape.
