Nylas has released its 2026 State of Agentic AI report, based on a survey of over 1,000 developers and product leaders involved in building or influencing agentic systems. The findings indicate a swift transition from experimental AI features to production-grade agentic deployments, transforming vendor evaluation criteria across the software ecosystem.
The report positions agentic AI as an infrastructure race rather than a simple feature competition. Developers demand platforms that deliver production-ready foundations, including robust data handling, dependable APIs, and embedded governance to support scalable agentic systems.
“As agentic AI moves into production environments, the competitive dynamic is shifting,” said Jeff Koets, CEO of Nylas. “This is not about adding AI features. It is an infrastructure race. The vendors that provide clean data layers, reliable APIs, and governance built into their architecture will capture the next phase of market movement.”
Adoption remains measured, with organizations implementing agentic workflows incrementally and maintaining human-in-the-loop controls to ensure safety and reliability. Priorities center on observability for monitoring agent performance and compliance frameworks to meet regulatory and operational requirements.
Leading organizations are demonstrating significant agentic AI integration at scale. These deployments highlight the strategic importance of choosing infrastructure capable of supporting extensive agent fleets alongside human teams.
“We now have over 3,258 agents working alongside 1,300 humans,” said Zeb Evans, Founder and CEO of ClickUp, a longtime Nylas customer. “Managers’ agents will manage their ICs’ agents — overseeing them for human-in-the-loop interactions.”
As agentic AI embeds deeper into daily operations, infrastructure choices are becoming critical differentiators. Platforms equipped to handle scalable, compliant, and observable agentic environments are set to lead the evolving market landscape.
