SAP and Snowflake announce a strategic partnership to integrate their platforms.
The collaboration enables zero-copy data sharing between SAP Business Data Cloud and Snowflake.
Snowflake will be available as a solution extension for SAP Business Data Cloud customers.
The integration allows building AI applications grounded in mission-critical SAP data.
It provides a unified governance framework for harmonizing SAP and non-SAP data.
The new offerings are planned for general availability in the first half of 2026.
The partnership is centered on integrating Snowflake into the open data ecosystem of SAP Business Data Cloud and its business data fabric. The new offering, the SAP Snowflake solution extension, brings Snowflake's capabilities for AI, analytics, and data engineering directly to SAP customers. A key technical advancement is the enablement of bidirectional, zero-copy data sharing, which allows data and AI teams to work with semantically rich SAP data products in real time within Snowflake's platform without the cost and complexity of data duplication.
The combined strength of both platforms is designed to accelerate the delivery of AI business value. Customers can build a trusted, AI-ready data foundation by harmonizing their SAP and non-SAP data landscapes. This simplifies AI governance and allows organizations to ground their AI models and agents in trusted, context-rich organizational knowledge. The result is the ability to develop, deploy, and continuously optimize intelligent applications faster, using semantically rich data products that reflect core business processes.
“By tightly integrating SAP and Snowflake, we’re making it simple for enterprises to connect their critical business data with its rich context in SAP with the power of seamless AI app and data agent development at scale in Snowflake," added Christian Kleinerman, EVP of Product, Snowflake. “Enterprises can now innovate faster with Snowflake and SAP BDC and seamlessly share data between the platforms —zero-copy and fully governed.”
“Bringing Snowflake to SAP Business Data Cloud empowers our customers with openness and choice,” said Irfan Khan, President and Chief Product Officer for SAP Data and Analytics, SAP SE. “Together, we combine SAP’s decades of leadership in mission-critical business applications with Snowflake’s modern data platform to deliver a unified, enterprise-ready, and SAP-supported experience.”
This collaboration, already supporting customers like AstraZeneca, represents a major step in breaking down data silos and providing a scalable, governed path for enterprises to leverage their most critical business data for AI-driven transformation.
