HP Inc. has announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI to integrate its Frontier platform into HP’s global operations, marking a major step in the company’s push to redefine the Future of Work through AI-driven transformation. The collaboration aims to enhance customer experiences, streamline internal workflows, and accelerate enterprise-wide adoption of agentic AI systems.

The partnership follows an exploratory phase that began in early 2026, during which HP evaluated OpenAI’s Frontier platform through pilot deployments focused on agentic capabilities, enterprise integration, security, and governance. Based on this evaluation, HP has positioned OpenAI’s models and platform as a core enabler of its AI transformation strategy.

Building an AI-Driven Enterprise Operating Layer

The collaboration is designed to position AI as a foundational operating layer across HP’s business processes. By integrating OpenAI’s Frontier platform, HP plans to create more consistent and intelligent experiences across customer touchpoints, including retail, partner ecosystems, chat interfaces, and voice-based support systems.

Prakash Arunkundrum, chief strategy and transformation officer at HP Inc., said:
“With OpenAI there is an opportunity to fundamentally rethink how AI can deliver better outcomes. With the use of Frontier platform, HP is planning to build a more consistent experience across store, partner, chat, and voice experiences, giving customers and partners faster ways to get answers, complete routine workflows, and move toward resolution.”

Expanding Use of Agentic AI Across Operations

HP plans to deploy AI-driven solutions across multiple operational areas, including customer and partner experiences, telemetry-driven insights, employee productivity, and software development. These capabilities are intended to improve decision-making speed, automate routine workflows, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

The company is also leveraging its Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) to integrate customer telemetry data and deliver unified insights across its device and service ecosystem.

Denise Dresser, chief revenue officer at OpenAI, said:
“HP is showing what enterprise transformation looks like when AI becomes an operating layer - connected to the systems and workflows where work already happens.”

From Pilots to Enterprise-Scale AI Adoption

The partnership builds on HP’s earlier evaluation of OpenAI’s Frontier platform, where the company tested agentic AI capabilities and assessed alignment with enterprise requirements such as security, governance, and data integration.

HP has now moved from pilot programs to a formal strategic collaboration aimed at co-developing future use cases and scaling AI adoption across its global operations. The focus will be on ensuring that AI systems meet enterprise-grade standards while delivering measurable business impact.

AI at the Edge of Work

A key element of HP’s strategy is bringing AI closer to where work actually happens. The company is developing AI-powered devices and systems designed to support always-on inference and agentic workloads, enabling real-time productivity enhancements at the endpoint level.

HP’s broader ecosystem of PCs, workstations, printers, and collaboration tools will be unified under its AI strategy, with centralized management and security delivered through its Workforce Experience Platform.

Shaping the Future of Work

HP’s vision positions AI as a core layer across hardware, software, and services, enabling humans and AI agents to collaborate more effectively. The company aims to transform traditional workflows into intelligent, automated systems that enhance productivity and decision-making across enterprise environments.

Conclusion

The strategic partnership between HP and OpenAI represents a significant step toward embedding agentic AI into enterprise-scale operations. By integrating the Frontier platform across customer-facing systems, internal workflows, and device ecosystems, HP is accelerating its transformation into an AI-driven enterprise focused on unified, intelligent work experiences.
