Algolia, an AI Search and Retrieval platform processing more than 1.75 trillion queries annually for over 18,000 businesses, has launched Dynamic Facets, a new AI-powered capability that automatically prioritizes the most relevant search filters based on shopper intent and search context. The feature aims to improve product discovery while reducing the manual effort required to manage search and merchandising experiences across large digital catalogs.
Algolia announced the availability of Dynamic Facets, a new capability that enhances search experiences by adapting product filters in real time based on user queries and browsing behavior.
Traditional ecommerce filtering often presents shoppers with static refinement options regardless of what they are searching for. As product catalogs expand and customer preferences evolve, these fixed filters can slow product discovery and create friction during the shopping journey.
Dynamic Facets addresses this challenge by automatically identifying and prioritizing the attributes most relevant to each search, helping customers locate products more efficiently while minimizing the need for ongoing manual filter management.
The feature dynamically ranks filtering attributes—such as brand, size, color, resolution, ingredients, or product specifications—according to the context of each individual search.
For example, shoppers searching for televisions can immediately see filters like screen size and display resolution, while customers browsing skincare products are presented with refinements such as ingredients, skin type, and product concerns.
Rather than relying on predefined filter hierarchies established during website implementation, Dynamic Facets continuously adapts based on changing inventory, search behavior, and consumer trends.

Rather than relying on a fixed order of filters, the experience can automatically prioritize the attributes that matter most in each category. For example, when someone searches for a television, screen size should not be buried at the bottom of the filter list. If shoppers consistently use that attribute, it should automatically rise to the top.”
According to Algolia, early implementations indicate that presenting the most relevant filters earlier in the shopping experience increases customer engagement.
In its strongest-performing deployments, Dynamic Facets improved filter clickthrough rates by 10% to 15%, with shoppers selecting products appearing two to three positions higher in search results.
The platform also captures insights into which filter values—such as brands, colors, sizes, and product attributes—receive the most engagement. Retailers can leverage this data to build additional search experiences, including quick-filter chips that reduce the number of steps required to refine search results.

The capability is particularly suited to retailers, online marketplaces, media libraries, and organizations managing extensive product or content catalogs with highly varied user searches.
