OneSignal Introduces Autonomous Lifecycle Marketing
OneSignal has announced its vision for Autonomous Lifecycle Marketing (ALM), a strategy that uses AI to automate customer lifecycle marketing while allowing marketers to define business objectives, brand guidelines, and operational guardrails.
Rather than requiring marketing teams to manually manage campaigns, the company envisions AI planning, executing, and optimizing customer engagement across onboarding, activation, retention, and re-engagement activities.
“The center of gravity in our category is moving from marketers operating software to software operating the customer lifecycle, with people supplying goals, context, and approvals,” said George Deglin, co-founder and CEO of OneSignal. “The dashboard era was about giving marketers better tools. This next era is about delivering the outcomes those tools were always for, and handing back the time spent operating them. The products we’re opening up today are the first real steps up that ladder.”
OneSignal AI Brings Conversational Marketing Automation
Available in open beta, OneSignal AI enables marketers to manage customer engagement using natural language prompts. Users can create push notifications, emails, SMS campaigns, and in-app messages while also building customer segments, designing multi-step customer journeys, analyzing campaign performance, and receiving AI-generated recommendations and industry benchmarks.
The AI assistant is designed to reduce manual campaign management, helping marketing teams execute customer engagement strategies more efficiently.
MCP Server Connects AI Assistants to Marketing Operations
OneSignal also introduced the OneSignal MCP Server, built on the open Model Context Protocol (MCP) with OAuth support. The server enables AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and Copilot to securely interact with the OneSignal platform.
Using conversational AI, organizations can automate tasks including customer segmentation, behavioral analysis, campaign creation, messaging, scheduling, analytics, and data exports. The company says AI agents can combine customer data analysis with campaign execution within a single workflow, reducing the need for manual coordination across multiple systems.
Building Toward Fully Autonomous Customer Lifecycle Management
OneSignal describes Autonomous Lifecycle Marketing as a gradual progression where marketers move from manual dashboards to AI assistance, followed by proactive AI recommendations, delegated agentic automation, and eventually fully autonomous lifecycle management that executes campaigns based on predefined business goals while requesting human input only when necessary.
According to the company, the outcomes supporting this approach have already been demonstrated across its customer base. Fintech platform Cashea increased first-month user activation by 43%, marketplace letgo reactivated more than 28,000 inactive users through a single campaign, and health application BetterMe improved user retention by 22%.
As AI capabilities continue to evolve, OneSignal aims to simplify lifecycle marketing by enabling smaller marketing teams to achieve enterprise-scale customer engagement through intelligent automation.
