HERE Technologies has expanded its collaboration with JLR to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) owners. The latest integration combines intelligent EV routing with real-time charging station information and predictive availability, helping drivers locate compatible charging points more efficiently while reducing range anxiety.
The expanded collaboration focuses on simplifying public charging for JLR's growing portfolio of electrified vehicles. By integrating HERE's EV Charge Point feature with eMobility Service Providers, the solution enables drivers to discover compatible charging stations directly through their in-vehicle navigation systems.
The technology builds upon HERE's existing intelligent EV routing capabilities, which calculate optimized charging stops by combining live charging station availability with predictive insights. This allows drivers to better plan journeys while minimizing charging delays and uncertainty.
One of the primary goals of the enhanced solution is to improve driver confidence during long-distance travel.
Through continuously updated charging station information, the navigation system helps EV owners identify suitable charging locations based on real-time charger status and anticipated availability. The integration also streamlines access to JLR's charging ecosystem, reducing the complexity often associated with locating compatible charging infrastructure.
The rollout will begin across the United Kingdom and Europe before expanding to Australia and New Zealand. The feature will be available for existing JLR plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles manufactured from 2020 onwards, including the upcoming Range Rover Electric.
Mark Camilleri, Director of Services, JLR, highlighted the company's focus on continuously improving customer experiences across its electrified vehicle lineup.
"We are committed to continually optimizing the experience our clients have out on the road. Our collaboration with HERE ensures owners of existing Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery PHEV models, and Jaguar PHEV and BEV models, can conveniently locate the right chargers at a time and place that suits their lifestyle."
HERE says its automotive solutions combine AI, real-world testing, vehicle sensor information, and real-time charging station user feedback to deliver accurate mapping and navigation services for electric vehicles.
The company's EV solutions provide automakers with continuously updated charging station information that supports route planning, charge point discovery, and end-to-end navigation experiences for EV drivers.
"We are excited to deepen our long-term collaboration with JLR and introduce a feature that will help vehicle owners easily locate compatible charge points, reducing ambiguity and complexity. We’re looking forward to continuing to make advancements in this space by addressing the challenges EV drivers still face today with precise, real-time charge point information." Gino Ferru, SVP and General Manager EMEA, HERE Technologies
As electric vehicle adoption continues to accelerate globally, collaborations between automotive manufacturers and mapping technology providers are becoming increasingly important in delivering seamless charging experiences. By combining intelligent routing, real-time charging information, and connected mobility services, HERE and JLR aim to make EV ownership more convenient while supporting the broader transition toward electrified transportation.
