Malwarebytes has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Michael Weissman to its Board of Directors and Joey Klein as Senior Vice President of Product. The appointments support the company's strategy to expand beyond traditional cybersecurity into a comprehensive digital life protection platform, addressing the growing risks posed by AI-powered scams, identity fraud, and evolving online threats.
Malwarebytes has announced two key leadership appointments as the company continues evolving into a broader digital protection platform.
Michael Weissman joins the Board of Directors, while Joey Klein has been appointed Senior Vice President of Product. Together, they bring extensive experience in consumer technology, fintech, subscription services, and digital product development to help guide the company's next phase of growth.
The appointments come as consumers increasingly face sophisticated AI-enabled scams, identity theft, and online fraud, driving demand for integrated cybersecurity and digital protection solutions.
Malwarebytes has been expanding its focus beyond malware detection to provide broader digital life protection.
The company now emphasizes:
According to Malwarebytes, the evolving threat landscape requires security platforms that not only detect malware but also help users make informed decisions online and protect personal information from increasingly advanced cyber threats.
Michael Weissman joins the Malwarebytes Board with decades of executive leadership experience across financial technology, subscription businesses, and digital media.
He currently serves as CEO of Netspend, one of the largest prepaid and debit payment companies in the United States. Previously, he held executive leadership positions as CEO of SoundCloud and Chief Operating Officer of Vimeo, where he focused on business transformation, subscription growth, and revenue expansion.
Weissman is also a partner at consumer, media, and technology investment firm ForgeLight.
"Too many consumers still lack simple, effective tools to protect themselves online. Malwarebytes has the platform, the team and the momentum to change that," Weissman said. "I'm excited to join the board and help guide the company through its next stage of growth."
Joey Klein joins Malwarebytes after leading product organizations at Hippo Insurance and Green Chef, where he helped scale consumer subscription businesses through major growth milestones.
Earlier in his career, Klein led multiple social and mobile gaming teams at Disney, including the launch of a Marvel Avengers mobile game.
His experience in building consumer-focused digital products is expected to accelerate Malwarebytes' product strategy while expanding its cybersecurity offerings.
"Consumers are increasingly expecting a simple and seamless security experience while the world is becoming more complex and fragmented," said Mark Beare, Head of Consumer, Malwarebytes. "Joey has a track record of making complex experiences simple and less overwhelming for end users. If security solutions aren't easy to use and simple to understand, people won't turn on the much-needed layers of protection."
"Cybersecurity has fundamentally changed. Protecting people today means more than stopping malware. It means helping consumers make smarter choices online, avoid scams and protect their identities," said Marcin Kleczynski, Co-founder and CEO, Malwarebytes. "Malwarebytes saw this shift years ago and started building a platform for scam and identity protection. Now, with the help of these two seasoned leaders, Malwarebytes can scale for its next chapter."
The appointments reinforce Malwarebytes' long-term strategy of combining AI-powered cybersecurity with identity protection, scam prevention, and privacy solutions to address the evolving needs of modern consumers.
