Bitdefender, a European-based company and a global cybersecurity leader, today announced the launch of its Sovereign Acceleration Program. The program empowers European organizations to transition to a fully European cybersecurity and data hosting solution that ensures customer and configuration data, security events, telemetry, and information gathered for customer support are never accessible, transferred, or processed outside the European Union (EU). To accelerate adoption, the program includes a commercial contract buyout and additional incentives for qualified organizations looking to migrate from non-EU cybersecurity providers.
Bitdefender launches Sovereign Acceleration Program for EU data sovereignty.
Includes contract buyout and incentives for migrating from non-EU providers.
85% of organizations rate digital and AI sovereignty as very/extremely important (IDC QuickPoll).
Addresses "sovereignty washing" by ensuring jurisdiction, operations, and supply chain remain EU-controlled.
Built on Bitdefender GravityZone platform with EPP, EDR, XDR, and cloud-native security.
Supports GDPR, NIS2, DORA compliance.
As geopolitical uncertainty and evolving compliance requirements increase scrutiny of cross-border data flows, European businesses are reassessing their cybersecurity supply chains. According to an IDC QuickPoll conducted in February 2026, 44% of respondents rated digital and AI sovereignty as "very important," and another 41% rated it as "extremely important." Most data sovereignty claims, however, fall short. Many vendors point to EU data center presence as proof of compliance while their platforms remain subject to non-EU legal jurisdiction, a practice increasingly referred to as "sovereignty washing."
The program provides organizations with a trusted European alternative to non-EU cybersecurity providers through a network of certified European cloud partnerships. It supports compliance with GDPR, NIS2, DORA, and sector-specific regulations. Bitdefender offers qualified organizations a contract buyout program that removes financial barriers and streamlines the path to a fully sovereign cybersecurity solution. Bitdefender GravityZone delivers advanced endpoint protection (EPP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), extended detection and response (XDR), and cloud-native security across the entire attack chain.
Andrei Florescu, president and general manager of Bitdefender Business Solutions Group, stated: "Not all data sovereignty claims are equal. Most cybersecurity vendors rely on EU data center presence alone while leaving jurisdiction, operational control, and supply chain outside European hands. The Bitdefender Sovereign Acceleration Program gives European organizations a clear, practical framework for cybersecurity that is both effective and sovereign, where the data, the infrastructure, the cybersecurity platform, and the expertise all remain within EU control."
Julien Levrard, CISO of OVHcloud, added: "True sovereignty requires secure infrastructure, proven cybersecurity, and confidence that critical technologies, data, and operations remain governed by European legal frameworks. By combining OVHcloud's sovereign cloud infrastructure with Bitdefender's technology and cybersecurity expertise, we help organizations across Europe strengthen cyber resilience while maintaining greater control over their data, operations, and digital future."
The Sovereign Acceleration Program includes Bitdefender Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services, providing continuous, expert-led threat monitoring and remediation delivered entirely within EU boundaries. It builds on Bitdefender's broader commitment to European data sovereignty, following strategic partnerships with OVHcloud in France and secunet in Germany.
