CompTIA has expanded its Essentials Series with two new role-specific courses: AI Marketing Essentials and AI Sales Essentials. These offerings provide practical training on leveraging generative AI tools to enhance marketing workflows and optimize every phase of the sales cycle, addressing the common gap in role-tailored AI guidance for sales and marketing professionals.

Sales and marketing professionals seeking to strengthen their artificial intelligence knowledge and skills now have targeted learning options from CompTIA, the world's leading provider of vendor-neutral information technology training and certification products.
The CompTIA Essentials Series has added AI Marketing Essentials and AI Sales Essentials. These courses teach effective use of generative AI tools to accelerate authentic marketing efforts and improve outcomes at every stage of the sales process.
CompTIA also announced plans to release three more job role-based courses in the first half of 2026: AI Help Desk Essentials, AI Finance Essentials, and AI Customer Support Essentials.
"AI tools are already present in many organizations, but are often underused, used inconsistently or used without role-specific guidance," said Katie Hoenicke, chief product officer, CompTIA. "Our Essentials Series addresses these shortcomings by presenting learners with engaging interactive scenarios that are specific to job roles and tasks. This approach helps them build competence and confidence in the responsible use of AI."
Recent CompTIA research highlights both the opportunities and challenges in AI adoption. While 82% of companies report rising expectations for AI to deliver measurable value, 79% have reverted to human-centered approaches after AI initiatives fell short of business goals. Accelerating workplace AI training offers a key solution, with a net 94% of organizations indicating they are at least somewhat likely to invest in AI-specific training this year.
CompTIA AI Essentials courses follow a research-based framework that aligns instruction with course objectives and real job task requirements. This method promotes better retention and the ability to apply skills in specific professional contexts. For marketing professionals, coverage includes digital marketing, content creation, communications, advertising, and analytics. For sales professionals, the focus encompasses prospect research, personalized outreach, call planning, CRM automation, proposal drafting, and additional key applications.
Each role-based Essentials Series course spans four to six hours. A final competency assessment evaluates practical skills rather than mere completion. Learners who pass receive a CompTIA CompCert (Competency Certificate).
Alongside the new AI-focused courses, the CompTIA Essentials Series currently offers instruction in AI, AI prompting, business, cloud computing, project management, and soft skills.
