WorkJam, the leading frontline operations platform, has launched a significant release focused on verifying execution, delivering targeted data, and integrating AI directly into workflows. The updates empower retailers with tools for visual merchandising, personalized dashboards, improved user interfaces, advanced content management, and action-oriented AI automation.

Quick Intel

  • Introduces visual merchandising with in-app image annotation for planogram compliance.
  • Custom Widgets display real-time KPIs via API without data duplication.
  • Refreshed UX across web and mobile for easier content creation and frontline use.
  • Enhanced content calendar for precise, role-based communication planning.
  • AI embedded in workflows for automatic task triggering and compliance.
  • Additional features: offline mode, event calendar, engagement insights, HIPAA certification.

Visual Merchandising and Execution Verification

WorkJam's new visual merchandising capabilities allow store teams to capture and annotate photos directly in the app to document planogram compliance, display execution, and brand standards. Managers can review submissions in real time, address issues promptly, and ensure consistency across locations. Integrated with existing forms and audits, this provides a comprehensive solution for assigning tasks, verifying execution through photos, and driving corrective actions in retail operations.

Custom Widgets for Personalized Data Delivery

Custom Widgets enable configurable dashboard cards that pull real-time KPIs and operational metrics from existing systems via API, avoiding data redundancy. These widgets can be targeted by role, location, shift, tenure, or certification, offering personalized insights such as individual performance or inventory data.

For IT teams, this introduces an extensibility model where developers can create embedded micro apps within the WorkJam environment.

"Retailers want operational data in the hands of frontline employees without the complexity of building dashboards or duplicating data across systems," said Steven Kramer, CEO and Co-founder of WorkJam. "Custom Widgets solve that. Your systems do the analysis. We deliver actionable insights to the right person, at the right time, so they can take action."

Improved User Experience and Content Management

The release features a modernized interface for both headquarters and frontline users, simplifying content creation, approvals, and workflow configuration. Enhanced content planning includes a unified calendar view for all communications—messages, tasks, events, trainings, and banners—allowing teams to simulate role-specific views and balance distribution based on store capacity through workforce management integrations.

"When you're running frontline communications at scale, the volume of content going to different job roles is enormous," said Kramer. "Without WorkJam, organizations default to generic messaging because everything else becomes impossible to manage. Now you can be precise at scale, stay organized, and maximize value to end users. This encompasses all types of communications such as messages, tasks, events, trainings, banners, and more."

Embedded AI for Workflow Automation

WorkJam integrates AI directly into workflows to trigger tasks, flag exceptions, enforce procedures, and automate resolutions across systems. This approach ensures compliance, including controls for non-compensatory time, and delivers contextual experiences via native targeting.

"There's a difference between AI that answers questions and AI that drives action," said Kramer. "WorkJam's lives inside workflows. It's not waiting to be asked something. It triggers tasks, flags issues, initiates follow-up. That's what we mean when we say AI should be built in, not bolted on. More importantly, we built AI tools that respect compliance and non-compensatory time."

Future extensions in Q1 2026 will include agent-to-agent orchestration for interoperability with existing AI investments.

Platform Enhancements and Connectivity

Additional updates cover offline task completion, a new event calendar, communication insights, smart navigation, communities, integration monitoring, and a dedicated forms page. The platform now holds HIPAA compliance alongside existing ISO 27001, SOC II Type 2, and CSA Star certifications.

Trusted by retailers like TJX, Ulta Beauty, Marks & Spencer, Metro, American Eagle Outfitters, Shell, and BP, WorkJam demonstrates these capabilities at NRF 2026 Booth 5821 and in a Big Ideas session on January 12.

WorkJam's connected approach links communications, tasks, insights, and AI actions, creating a true frontline operations platform for retail productivity and engagement.
