Intuit has announced its new Career Pipeline Program, a major initiative to upskill one million students in accounting over the next five years. The program delivers industry-recognized certifications, advisory skills training, and hands-on experience with transformational AI technologies, preparing the next generation to thrive as AI reshapes the profession.
The accounting industry faces a critical talent shortage worsened by misconceptions among younger generations. With 65% of Gen Z reporting a lack of career guidance in accounting and 56% holding inaccurate views of the profession, interest in the field has declined. Fears of AI displacing entry-level roles further compound the issue. Intuit’s Career Pipeline Program counters these barriers by providing clear pathways, real-world skills, and confidence-building credentials to make accounting an attractive and viable career choice.
Intuit’s initiative equips students with the competencies needed to succeed in an AI-transformed industry. Training includes on-demand learning, mentorship opportunities, and certifications that leading firms value for recruitment. By integrating AI-native tools and focusing on advisory services, the program positions future accountants to leverage technology for higher-value work, enhancing their employability from day one.
The program begins with a free virtual event, Career Lab, scheduled for February 3 and 4, 2026. This immersive experience convenes industry leaders to explore evolving accounting careers, AI’s role in fintech and Client Advisory Services (CAS), and the core skills employers seek today. Participants will receive free resources to earn the ProAdvisor QuickBooks Certification, a globally trusted credential that accelerates hiring readiness.
"The accounting community is an integral part of driving business success, and at Intuit, we want to help ensure the next generation is prepared to carry that torch forward,” said Simon Williams, vice president, accountant segment, Intuit. “Our commitment to upskill one million students is rooted in listening to our accounting partners, understanding the important role they play as advisors, and building a pipeline that helps their firms and their clients thrive.”
"At Intuit, we believe financial futures are strengthened when AI and human intelligence work together to expand opportunity and transform lives. That’s why AI is designed to amplify the impact of accountants, not replace them," said Dave Zasada, vice president of education and corporate responsibility at Intuit. "By providing free, employer-recognized certifications and access to curriculum and resources that enhance the skills of young professionals, we’re building a robust CAS expert pipeline to help ensure the success of the next-generation of accountants. We’re not just teaching students how to use tools; we’re giving them the confidence and credentials to move from the classroom to the conference room on day one."
