Cengage Group, a global edtech leader, is expanding its AI product portfolio to deliver personalized learning experiences across higher education, workforce training, and K-12 segments. Over one million higher education students across 100+ products now access the AI-powered Student Assistant, which supports learning with contextual guidance and extended engagement. Meanwhile, Cengage Work and Cengage School are piloting AI tools tailored to career training and K-12 education, respectively, to enhance outcomes and accessibility.
In higher education, Cengage’s Student Assistant now supports over one million students across key disciplines, offering 24/7 personalized help. The tool integrates with course homepages, eBooks, and assignments, featuring improved navigation with dynamic visuals and direct textbook links. Instructors gain real-time analytics on student progress, usage trends, and common questions, enabling personalized outreach. “Students are engaging with our Student Assistant four to five times longer than with other AI tutor bots,” said Darren Person, Chief Digital Officer at Cengage Group. “This is driven by AI that is built for learning, not just answering, enabling students to leverage the technology to test their thinking, deepen understanding and build lasting skills.” A University of Wisconsin–Green Bay student noted: “I like that the Student Assistant provides examples that relate to the context and doesn't just state exactly what the student asks, it goes above and beyond to make sure the student understands.”
Cengage Work is piloting its AI-powered Learning Assistant in Advanced Career Training courses, reaching one-third of learners in programs like Medical Terminology and Pharmacy Technician. Embedded in courses, the tool provides instant, contextual answers and guides students to instructors when needed. Early feedback highlights its value for adult learners balancing education with work, with users calling it an “instructor in their pocket.” The assistant boosts retention and resolves issues faster, enhancing the learning experience for time-constrained students.
Cengage School’s AI Leveler, in beta, enables K-12 educators to adjust reading levels for personalized instruction. Early feedback is strong, with 94% of teachers rating its quality as good and 100% expressing intent to use it. Cengage School is also researching additional AI tools, driven by a 53% demand for teacher support in districts adopting generative AI, up 15 points from last year. These efforts aim to deliver research-backed, personalized learning experiences for K-12 students.
Cengage Group’s strategic AI expansion underscores its commitment to ethical, pedagogy-driven tools that empower students and educators. By integrating AI across its portfolio, Cengage is fostering personalized, accessible learning that drives measurable outcomes across diverse educational segments.
