Dayforce, Inc. announced the rebranding of its payroll and HR solution for Canadian small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) as Powerpay by Dayforce. This strategic move, announced in Toronto, reinforces Dayforce’s commitment to its 46,000+ Canadian customers, addressing the complex compliance and operational challenges faced by SMBs, which contribute billions to Canada’s GDP annually.
Canadian SMBs face hundreds of legislative changes annually, complicating payroll and HR compliance. Powerpay by Dayforce offers a cloud-based, AI-powered platform to automate payroll processes, tax filings, and time tracking, reducing errors and saving time. “Powerpay is designed to simplify compliance, save time, and help business owners focus on what matters most – their companies,” said David Ossip, Chair and CEO of Dayforce. The platform’s intuitive interface, enhanced by features like the New Hire Wizard and self-service enrollment, improves workforce data visibility and streamlines onboarding, as evidenced by Apollo Property Management’s experience: “The platform is intuitive, scalable, and a great fit for a business like ours that runs multiple payrolls,” said Krista Hanes, Director of Administration & Corporate Services.
Behrad Bayanpour’s appointment as General Manager underscores Dayforce’s focus on innovation. As SVP of Strategy and Growth, Bayanpour aims to forge partnerships that drive SMB growth. “We’re not just providing a platform — we’re forging partnerships that fuel growth, drive innovation, and help SMBs navigate an evolving landscape with confidence and optimism,” he said. Powerpay’s scalability and integration with Dayforce’s broader HCM platform, which serves global enterprises like the Government of Canada (processing $40.1 billion in payments for 431,000 employees in 2024), position it for sustained impact.
As shown in the finance card above, Dayforce’s stock (DAY) experienced a slight decline, closing at $54.916 on July 2, 2025, with a year-to-date low of $47.08 and a high of $82.69. Despite a 1-month drop from $56.46 on July 1, its $8.79 billion market cap reflects strong market presence. Powerpay’s rebrand aligns with Dayforce’s broader strategy, including partnerships like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ expanded use of Dayforce’s HCM tools and its availability on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, enhancing global reach. The platform’s focus on compliance and automation positions it competitively against alternatives like Knit People and ADP, though some users note a learning curve for smaller businesses.
Powerpay by Dayforce empowers Canadian SMBs with reliable, secure tools to navigate complex regulations, streamline operations, and drive growth.
