Announced on August 6, 2025, at EVOLVE25, this collaboration empowers BNI to integrate generative AI, enhance real-time insights, and ensure regulatory compliance in Indonesia’s financial sector.

Pioneering AI Inferencing with Cloudera and NVIDIA

BNI is among the first financial institutions to adopt Cloudera AI Inferencing, powered by NVIDIA NIM microservices. This on-premises solution enables secure deployment of open-source large language models (LLMs) on NVIDIA accelerated computing. “We are proud to be among the first financial institutions adopting Cloudera’s AI Inference service,” said Toto Prasetio, Chief Information Officer of BNI. “This technology gives us the infrastructure to scale our generative AI ambitions securely and efficiently, while staying compliant with Indonesia’s evolving regulatory landscape.” Full deployment is anticipated by the end of 2025.

Enhancing Banking Operations with AI

BNI leverages Cloudera’s unified data platform to streamline its AI supply chain, integrating data ingestion, governance, analytics, and machine learning. The bank is already using machine learning for product recommendations, supply chain optimization, and churn prediction. Additionally, BNI employs real-time monitoring and ML models for online gambling detection, collaborating with Indonesia’s Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), Kominfo, OJK, and BI to freeze and report suspicious accounts. AI-driven chatbots further enhance customer service by equipping relationship managers with instant product knowledge.

Regulatory Compliance and Data Sovereignty

Cloudera’s platform aligns with Indonesia’s regulatory requirements, including those set by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia (BI). Its robust governance, end-to-end security, and hybrid deployment flexibility ensure BNI meets data sovereignty goals while scaling AI applications. “By adopting Cloudera’s AI Inference and unified data platform, BNI is leading the way in securely operationalizing generative AI at scale,” said Remus Lim, Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at Cloudera. This partnership supports BNI’s commitment to responsible and compliant digital banking.
