BigBear.ai, a leader in AI-powered solutions for national security, has rolled out its Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP) biometric software across multiple high-traffic airports and ports. Developed by Pangiam, now part of BigBear.ai, this technology streamlines international arrivals for U.S. citizens while enhancing security and compliance.
BigBear.ai deploys EPP biometric software at 12 major ports of entry.
Technology streamlines arrivals while ensuring security and compliance.
Deployed at airports like JFK, LAX, DFW, and Montreal-Trudeau.
Supports U.S. Customs and Border Protection with AI-driven solutions.
Enhances passenger experience with faster, touchless processing.
Integrates advanced biometrics and AI for operational efficiency.
BigBear.ai’s EPP biometric software, leveraging facial recognition and AI, automates identity verification for U.S. citizens at international ports of entry. The system integrates with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Traveler Verification Service, reducing bottlenecks and expediting the arrivals process. “Deploying Enhanced Passenger Processing at scale requires near seamless integration of advanced biometrics, AI, and operational infrastructure – this is where BigBear.ai excels,” said Kevin McAleenan, CEO of BigBear.ai.
The EPP technology is operational at major hubs, including Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Denver International Airport (DEN), John F. Kennedy International Airport (Terminals 4 and 8), Los Angeles International Airport (Terminal 7 and Tom Bradley International Terminal), Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL), Port of Seattle (SEA), Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, and Cross Border Xpress (CBX). These deployments, many transitioning from 2024 pilots, support standardized, arrival-focused workflows.
The EPP system combines biometric capture, edge-based facial matching, and AI-powered exception handling to ensure compliance with U.S. and international regulations. “We are proud to support international airports, seaports, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in transforming the security and safety for travelers, while elevating the passenger experience through AI-powered innovation,” McAleenan added. The technology minimizes manual processes, enabling faster risk identification and efficient processing.
Following BigBear.ai’s $70 million acquisition of Pangiam in March 2024, the company has expanded its biometric capabilities, positioning itself as a leader in digital identity solutions. The EPP deployments align with CBP’s mandate for a biometric entry-exit system, offering a scalable solution for rising border volumes. With a stock price of $3.96 as shown in the finance card above, BigBear.ai continues to grow its presence in national security and travel sectors.
BigBear.ai’s EPP biometric technology sets a new standard for secure, efficient passenger processing, reinforcing its role in modernizing global border infrastructure.
